Since I haven't really liked anything Ebo has produced in the past few years.  Why not look at some old school?  

Looking for opinions of those that have used the NEW puma?

I've seen a few people throw it...one of which replaced an original Puma with it.  Ball looks really good to me and it's a bit stronger than the original.  

The only thing "old school" about the product is the core shape.  Light Bulbs are a great classic shape that still performs well on today's conditions.  One of my favorite all time balls is a Storm Lightning Flash that has an inverted light bulb.  Now that ball is a little more "old school" as the cover stock is weaker by todays standards, but the ball works well with my rev-rate.

Give it a try...but make sure you are looking to use / drill it for its intended conditions.

Yes both the covers on the puma remake and the nitro R2 remake are new covers made to similate the old balls motion on new oil conditions.  If you make old balls with old covers they would not perform as well on the newer oils as their predecessors did on old oils.  Like the Hammer Hi Rev they couldn't copy core or cover like the old 3d offsets but they can copy ball motion on the lane or get pretty darn close.  Ebonite can use same core and updated covers to provide simliliar looks on todays conditions.  Track on the other hand claims the Heat to be an exact remake including core and cover I can't confirm or deny this.
