Rival vs. Gamebreaker

I have a gamebreaker, which I really like. I have a label drilling on it and I would consider it fairly strong on medium oil. However, I am very interested in the Rival. I am wondering how different these balls are? Would I be wasting my time in getting one. My Raid is starting to crack and I don't really care for it anyways. I only really can throw it on drier lanes (maybe my drilling?). So when I get it replaced I might see if my pro shop will replace it with a Rival.

In my opinion, the Rival doesn't even compare to the potential of the Gamebreaker. You're going to get a much stronger backend reaction out of the Gamebreaker for the same amount of length. I was lucky enough to test the new Columbia balls when they came out, and when I tried the Rival, it just died on me in the back.

If you want to go with Columbia, then I think the Wrath High Flush would be a better choice. You'll get less performance than the Raid, but it definately has more backend than the Rival (from my personal experience with the balls).

My raid barely hooks unless the lanes are medium/light oil. A lot of people say their raid was a beast mine seems to be very unpredictible.

That often happens when there's not ENOUGH oil for the coverstock and its finish. Could that have been the case?

THe Wrath is a pearl with a super fine (4000 grit) finish; the Rival is significantly stronger and needs MUCH more head oil. That corroborates my feeling that the Rival had no backend because it was probably expending all its energy in trying to hook too early.

The Rival is a midlane rolling / strong arc kind of ball.  Mine's drilled with the pin up between the fingers and the CG in the palm and I can use it on just about anything except the extremes.  If you want to use it on dry, you'll probably have to polish it to get the length you want.  I'd imagine you could make it skid flip with a different drill, but that's not what this ball is designed to do.   These kind of balls suit my game perfectly.  I haven't thrown a Gamebreaker, so I can't compare the 2.

You will definatly need some oil for the gamebreaker. My gamebreaker was soo condition specific, that I could never use it after the first game..

I have the gamebreaker and I like it as stated before. I think my drilling on the gamebreaker would probably be considered a weaker drilling (label drilling/no side weight). I like it on medium with some head oil the best, but can throw it on oil. Just on oil I prefer my Resurgence ot Total NV over the Gamebreaker.

I just want something that is better suited for my game than the Raid. The Raid seems to be too much over/under on any condition. I like my Domination more and would consider them similaar balls. I really do not like the Raid much and will get a replacement for it when it cracks a little more. It has started to crack but my pro shop wants me to wait til it gets worse.

I was just worried that the Rival would be too close to my Gamebreaker making it something that wouldn't be useful to me. Is this probably true or probably not true? I just don't want to have 2 of the same balls in my bag if I can get something that gives me a better/different look. I would have to get an Ebonite ball or something made by Ebonite. Any other suggestions (view my profile for current ball list? I don't have trouble with dry lanes so I don't need a dry lane ball.
