Any pin down Magic's out there?
« on: March 25, 2009, 04:39:27 AM »
I am going to be purchasing a Magic within the next week, and am really unsure how I want to drill the ball. I don't match up with my Virtual Gravity wortha a poop. Went with a pin above bridge 1 inch 5 1/2 x 4 layout, and the ball goes to long and never wants to recover for me on heavier oil.

I read that the magic is a long and strong ball similar to the Virtual, I just don't want to get the Virtual results. I was thinking about pin under bridge 5-5 1/4 to PAP with MB 4 or 4 1/2. I just don't want it to be to mellow on the backend,

Was also thinking pin sitting right on top of ring finger 5 inches away from PAP.

NOTE- I have a Dimension that I have pin under ring finger 4 3/4 x 4 with a balance hole in thumb quadrant that is way to strong for me to ever use, regardless of the amount of oil. Don't want those results either.

I drilled my magic 5 1/2 X 50 X 40 pin down and its nasty.  On a true medium oil shot this ball owns, if its heavy I can go straghter with it and be ok but I would have a better look with my gamebreaker or nvd.  When the shot opens up then I can throw it.  On lighter mediums its a little to much midlane and can burn up, then I'll throw the pearl one.  Polishing it might help, but I like the oob reaction too much, so I'll throw the peal one instead.  Stats in profile.

*On edit*  I also drilled a pin up magic 5 X 60 X 40 and it alot stronger downlane and a few boards left with my feet.  It comparable to my one pearl with the same drill just 5-6 boards stronger.  I actually prefer my pin down one b/c it easier to read, but this one is great for opening up the lane on a medium-heavy shot.

mine is pin under ring and its long ,a little too long for my liking. this is a stronger drill but even with the lenght the back end isnt all the great i might want to see it drilled pin up to see it flip .that might make it a ball to open up the lanes.pin under its just lazy with moderate backend.,

Why not a strong pin placement if you are looking to use this on heavy oil.....

my pin is strong but the ball isnt .drill it strong and i think it will be a disapointment ,drill it weak and it might be a good bench mark ball.it really gets a long way down lane and i have a strong pin placement, right and under ring, same as nvd and the magic doesnt even come close to the nvd.
