The amazing color changing Gamebreaker
« on: July 06, 2007, 12:55:54 AM »
Well we drilled the new Gamebreaker yesterday and noticed a very strange thing. The purple color seemed to turn black wherever we scraped or put pressure on the ball.We knew it was the same cover as the One so it couldn't be a reaction to the heat.Soo.. we threw it on the spinner and after a little clean n dull we soon had a mostly black Gamebreaker. It appears if the ball doesn't come out the correct color Ebonite simply coats it with a colored waxlike substance and ships it out as 1st quality.

AMAZING!!!

Now I don't care about color and I will do  a seperate post after I've put a few games on it but I do believe this is the last ball I will purchase from a company that resorts to deceptive tactics in their quality control.

Nice job Ebonite. If this is not a deception a description change to black/purple GB 10.7 with a red wax finish would be appropriate.

Could it be some very fine sanding residue? Interesting (if not weird?). Pics?

Sorry no before pics. Now it's just a black ball with logos. The ball origionally had coloration similar to an Easter egg.The purple was mottled and appeared to be seperate ie no bleed into the black. We noticed that the color was superficial when my driller marked the center of my grip in preparation of locating the weight hole.He uses a punch and then lightly scrapes the hole flat. The area he scraped turned black.I took my finger nail and as I scraped down the ball the mark turned black. After a cleaning on the spinner the mottled color was gone. There is purple in the ball but the color is so deep it would not show in a photo.
When I first pulled it out of the bag I noticed two black dots on opposite sides of the ball so perfect I thought at first they were locater pins. They're now gone .Blended right into the ball.
Very strange.

A friend of mine got a gamebreaker and it had GB 12.7 engraved in it. Did something happen when they poured these balls.

There are a lot of them like this, and I have a call into my rep about this.

They might have 10.7 on the box, but 12.7 engraved on the ball.

VERY ODD!

I have a another guy that has 10.7 engraved on his ball, so we will see.

From the another website, this has also been stated. Difference between 16 and 15 lb ball from what some are seeing. The one that I saw in the store looked solid, so I assumed it was 10.7.

Maybe someone from ebonite can clear this up?!?

They have had to recall balls before because of "mistakes"  Two of the TPC balls if I remember correctly

I called and talked to Ebonite techs and they said there where a few that where stamped wrong. The Gamebreaker is for sure 10.7.

I just received the 2 Gamebreakers I ordered from Ebonite and both of mine are stamped correctly 10.7 and the coloring is just fine..
