I have a GB3 Pearl which I can't get to work for me. Sometimes it hooks and others it doesn't. The factory finish is 500/1000 polished. The Solid GB3 comes at 500/2000 dull. If I change the surface on the Pearl to 500/2000 would the reaction then be similar to the Solid? I realize it won't be exactly the same but I'd appreciate some opinions before I make the change.Thanks.

If you take it up to 2000 it will just skid further with little hook at all! You'd probably be better served taking a used 1000 pad to your ball and try to dull up that polish they put on it! I never liked polish on a pearl ball at all! Makes them extremely over/under for me. Just so you know, I have the GB3 solid and OOB it is the bomb! Once it gets lane shine however, the same thing starts happening to me....very inconsistent! Try both and just go with the method that works for you. I don't think that there is a concrete method that fits all styles!
