the older ones are SUPPOSE to be better quality and details on the skull itself. however they are both suppose to yellow after a while. oxidation i assume.

I think the easiest way to tell the original apart from the remake is to look at the serial numbers. If it has a star and USBC included in the serial number it should be the remake.
The same applies for most of the original Ones and the re-released Ones. That and the method of engraving the serial numbers also changed.

I still use my skull every night I bowl, its the original and it has never, ever yellowed, the new ones look like pond water, not clear like the original.

If I am correct, I believe there were 3 releases of this ball. The ORIGINAL batch had a purpleish tint to the clear, and were limited to only 1,500 balls I think. The 2nd release used crystal that was pretty clear. This last batch (about 2 yrs ago I believe) is the only one using the Optyx logo.
I could be wrong, but if my memory serves me correctly those are the differences. When all else fails, serial numbers are the easiest way to determine the timeframe when it was made.

I have one of the originals, the cover has a slight purple tint to it.as of now it's basicly a cool decoration for my ball rack.
