smash vs boom

Can anyone let me know the difference between the Smash and Boom?
I have seen one review that says the Boom is more angular than the Smash with the same layout. The BTM numbers show the Boom as a little more angular also.

But I have heard from others that there is no way. Ebonite and others say the Smash is by far way more angular, snappy, and more backend then the Boom.

Looking for something snappy and angular and big backend for dry lanes.

my booms are longer and more angular than my smashes are...i get more overall hook from the smash but it is sooner

Very angular backend from the Boom.  For an entry level ball it snaps pretty hard on the backend.

i have a boom drilled pin over bridge and cg 45 degrees with a hole on my PAP and hit it with 4000...in league for the past 3 weeks that i started using it, i have shot 848(front 30 and then some 10 pins), 782, and 795

how is your smash drilled??

So Ebonite got the description wrong on the two balls?.. They are calling the Smash longer, more hook and more angular..

They are saying the boom is smoother..

I would tend to believe real world experience though.

my smash is pin in the ring finger and cg kicked 40 degrees out with a weight hole 1" down my VAL to get it back to half side

I don't have this ball, but it definitely got my attention on the lanes next to me this weekend during league play.

Guy next to us was throwing one, and it seemed smoother and earlier than a Boom to me. He stayed in the hole all night long without it checking up or snapping too hard on the backend. Good carry for a lite oil ball.

I was impressed.

I got my Smash drilled up. Got a 4.75" pin and put the pin 1" from the VAL with a 4 1/2" pin to PAP...cg just to the right of center grip so I have room for a weight hole to change the reaction if desired. I was looking for something to replace my green gargoyle that is drilled similarly.. (has a 5" pin to PAP with pin close to the VAL).  I went a little closer to the PAP with the SMASH because the differential was a little lower than the Gargoyle , so I wanted to make sure I got enough flare.
The SMASH definately goes long and definitely moves on the backend.. not quite as much, as angular , or as hard as the gargoyle though.  The balls were at different grits on the cover so it is hard to compare. I put them both at 4000 polished and will test them again at various cover adjustments to see how they really compare..

Do you have a Boom?  You are saying that from what you have seen the Boom is longer and more angular??
