SR300
« on: September 13, 2006, 01:23:39 PM »
Well one step above the Doom I have i'm considering the SR300 and taking it to 1000 grit abralon and that makes me a two ball line up. For a 275 est. rev rate, 16mph bowler for a medium/medium heavy/ more inside shot on THS would this ball work? Thanks

i dont think so, a friend of mine, has about a 300 rev rate with about 14-15 mph ball speed, its drilled pin down cg out, 1000 grit. the ball needs atleast alittle dry to work right. and inside is not where you would want to be with this ball and your style. its very smooth and hits like a bus, but oil isint really one of its friends, i have watched it skid 55 feet more than 1 time. you might consider the one?

Hmm, thanks, i've just not heard much on the ball so I figured I'd ask and The One I used for a bit and it didn't really read, so it was probably a dumb question lol.

But at 1000 grit abralon i've used the Infinte One on the conditions I asked about, Medium-Heavy/ just playing deep on patterns were I'd like another look, the Infitie One carried and rolled well. I'm just not sure if I want to drop 180 on a ball and the SR300 I could get for 130

I also have a brand new SR300, pin in ring finger, MB at 80° from PAP, with a XXCel as benchmark. I am oing to play it this evening 1st time and am anxious how it performs. I hop to get a nice medium condition reaction with good head clearance on later games from it, when a track has beenw orn on the lane or the oil simply dissipates.

An update: First impression with this ball: ambiguous. I used it after 6 games and on a worn out, medium oil lane, so I guess the first 2 games I made with it are not representative. The SR300 was the weakest ball in my bag that day because I expected more viscous oil, I guess it was not the ball's favorable environment.

Ball has very good length. You get it down the lane very well, even on a scorched track, and it hits still very hard in OOB finish. I just found that it would not finish well when I tucked it into the oil in the lane's mid. When I played it to the oustide, say across 3rd arrow while standing on 30th board with my right shoe tip, the ball would recover well - unless it finds some carry down.
I guess I will have to use a rougher surface on it for what I intend to do with it, probably 2.000 grit Abralon or 1.500 grit wet sanded, but I will need much more testing to come to a final conclusion. I am not 100% happy, but it was just first deployment. Best about it so far is that it clears the heads nicely when lower RG stuff already tends to bleed energy.

typically based on layout and surface prep you can make any ball adjust to your needs.

the characteristics of this ball compared to the doom should be more length more backend than the doom. i assume with the speed/rev rate (if correct) you play more of an outside line. if not layed out properly the ball may not recover from the same point. but bowling is all about adjustments.

the 10.7 cover is a very versatile cover
