So hard to choose!
« on: July 31, 2006, 11:21:05 AM »
I'm looking at the Infinite One, but cannot decide what heavy oil ball to get. I want it to be stronger than my Strike Zone. It doesn't have to be versatile because that's what my other balls are for. I want my heavy oil ball to be able to handle the types of oil tournaments usually lay out. Scorchin' gets some good and some bad reviews, same with the Passion. The Action Max isn't even on the site yet and the Infinite One is from Ebonite, which I hear dies. So how could you possibly eliminate and make up your mind? I like the Battle, but I can't say I really want to bowl with another ugly bowling ball.

Epic Battle is a sweet ball. If you need FLOOD... Centaur AMB Particle (OOB 300 grit sanded). I hear even with a weak layout on this ball its still STRONG!

Heh, I'd rather stay with more popular companies. I don't mean flood, just something that outhooks my Strike Zone and can handle tournament oil.

Well. if you are looking for something in the "heavy" oil range - i would not recommend ebonite.

im just saying, their coverstocks are hard to versitate or change to something else. The infinite one is a soaker ball, that picks up alot of oil.

Do not go with the scorchin' - only bad results have come out of the ball from my experiences.

For heavy - its hard to recommend a company in other forums - but i would say to look at Track or Storm or Hammer.

Robo, Passion, or Hawg Zilla? Which one would be best for me?

Robo is a great ball - its not the greatest for "floods"

Passion - past the cracking problem they had, its a great ball - have thrown it pin above ring, and have shot 279's, etc..

Zilla - i have not thrown, but the stats and that core it has, it will be a great ball as well. I am not sure about the coverstock..

I had a paradigm and passion both drilled 4x4 and the paradigm hooked more. I didnt like the passion at all.

As mentioned earlier...Roto Grip's Epic Battle is a sweet bowling ball which takes to alterations of coverstock quite well.

I hate to tell you this, but you will get mixed reviews for just about every ball made.  With all the people that come on here to express "opinions" you need to just make a decision and go with it.  There is no such thing as a "bad" ball anymore.  If you like the Strike Zone, but just want a little more hook on wetter conditions, get the Scorchin and be done with it.  Dont take something that can be simple and make it difficult.

Eenie-meenie-miney-mo usually works well also.

If you want a ball to hook in floods and not die i would have to go with the frankie may by visionary i have seen a few of them thrown and this ball makes out of bounds look playable.

The most aggresive ball I've ever seen is the AMB particle. It probably wouldn't cover as many boards as the strike zone, but when the strike zone is skidding too far it will roll earlier. I use a columbia action for floods, but I have a lot of hand with softer speed. I don't have any personal experience with it, but the epic battle looks like a great flood ball.
