Something Stronger..
« on: December 11, 2007, 02:25:37 AM »
I am using my Brunswick BVP Rampage at the moment as my primary ball. I was looking to try Ebonite and wanted something that can play almost any condition, and have a skid/snap motion. i throw the ball around 13-15 MPH, and i have rev (not as much as Robert Smith, but i have some! haha). what do you think is a good choice?

NVS.. got are son one when they came out.. it's a good 1-2 punch with his Rampage..

The NVS is strong for a pearl.. his gets good length, but when it hits dry, it's taken off.. It works for him..

No, it's a resin pearl sanded to 2000 grit and then highly polished. But it is stronger in oil handling and in overall hooking ability than the Rampage.

The NVS should fit between the Rampage and the Resurgence.

another choice might be the gamebreaker if he didn't want to go with a nvs.

I believe the Gamebreaker would overlap with the Resurgence to too large a degree.

Have you considered the Rival? I have one and it hooks more than the NVS, Black Widow Solid and Gamebreaker. I do not have a Resurgence but from what I read the Rival hooks 3-5 boards less. The Rival gets down the lane very easily and recovers very well. It's a pretty inexpensive ball. You can get in on Bowlingball.com and with their discount ($15 - code xmas15) and Ebill's discount ($15)for less $85. To qualify for both discount your total purchase must total to atleast $115.

I could be wrong but from what I see and what I have gotten the resurgence is at least anywhere from 5-9 or more boards stronger. I really don't see these balls overlaping at all

i have to agree with mike here...ive thrown both, and the resurgence is BY FAR WAY WAY stronger than the gamebreaker, the gb is a GREAT ball, but no where near as strong as the resurgence

everything is relative.

The Gambreaker is at least 2 steps above the Rampage, IF it is really one step below the Resurgence. (Remember that house oil blends can hide the true  difference between balls.) It may hook more but it doesn't handle that much more oil, which is the dividing line these days.

i just cant agree with you charles t...if i go bowl college pattern and its 39 ft heavy oil blend, my gb is gonna skate all the way down, if its heavy, but the resurgence for sure will pick up a roll and open the pattern up...oob the gb is 2000, thats not a lot of surface at all

sounds like the gamebreaker is a strong ball, but not as strong as my resurgence. im just looking for that medium lane condition that will hit hard with a skid/flip motion. ive seen the rival drilled 3 different ways and it does look interesting. ive also seen the gamebreaker. that looked good, but also needed a lot of oil. could just be they sanded it down too. ive yet to see the NVS in action. right now i think i am leaning towards the rival. but the raid or GB sounds interesting. thanks for the help guys.

Well everyone has their own options but, I will let his scores and knowlege speak for themself. Just because you might not like his personality or they way he coaches does not make him a joke.

Also back to the topic at hand the rival is a great ball can not go wrong with it. If you are looking for skid snap it can be good for it. The raid, angular one, total nv are other ones that could be good. Any of them are good balls. Im sure you will pick out a winner with the huge feild that is out there.
