Striking Motion or NVD
« on: December 07, 2008, 12:17:06 PM »
My brother won any current Ebonite bowling ball this weekend and wants to know which is a better fit to go with the bowling balls he has now, the Striking Motion or the NVD?

Currently he has a Gamebreaker, Ultra Zone and a pearl Black Widow.  It might be a replacement for the Gamebreaker as the first ball out of his bag or ba or stronger then the Ultra Zone and the Gamebreaker..

Thanks,

Nic,

Have you guys thought about a Pin Slasher since it has the same core as the GB with a stronger cover?  Just curious.  So far, I see quite a bit of love/hate with both the NVD and the SM.  However, the Pin Slasher seems to be money.

Steve,

The Pin Slasher cost about is about $99 and the Striking Motion is about $143.  Not saying the cost makes one a better ball, but is the Pin Slasher a better ball regardless of cost?

Thanks,

I completely disagree about the comment on the NVD.  That ball is phenomenal.  I have yet to throw the Striking Motion, but the NVD is much stronger than my gamebreaker and it complements it very well.

I would get the Striking Motion and sell it off and then buy the Pin Slasher, I have a SM and NVD night and day different roll for me.

NVD is alot of ball and the SM just burns up from the cover being to strong, had to shine the SM way up to glossy and it now is an ok ball nothing special at all.

I am getting a Pin Slasher soon and have a playmaker which is a top notch release to go with it.

Dont get me wrong on the NVD it hooks off the planet but gets you into alot of trouble if you do not like swinging the ball alot.

I have both balls and for me the NVD is very strong and needs alot of oil. The Strike Motion is also strong but much smoother in the back. Both balls needs alot of oil. So it all depends on what kind of back end reaction you want. FYI, people with less hand tend to say the ball is too archy.

I am a big fan of the gamebreaker, loved that ball! I believe your best choice if he wants to replace the gamebreaker, would be the striking motion, especially if he's looking for a ball to go to when there is a lot of oil.  You can always polish it up if its too much.

I like the idea of the Striking Motion and then sell it and buy the Pin Slasher.  It is a more versatile ball than either of the other 2 imo.

NVD: Big backend
Striking Motion: more overall hook with strong but smoother backend
Pick your poison. The SM would be the one to replace the Gamebreaker.

Not a fan of pin slasher or striking motion. Just threw them at a demo days and nothing speical. We had 5 guys with us all diferent styles . From high speed high rev to simple stroker  None of us cared for those too balls. They rolled out and died . We threw them on a dry shot and heavy oil same results. I would go with NVD or wait for the one pearl to come out. Only person i have seen threw the pin slasher well is are driller who is a massive cranker on dry

I saw the same thing with the Striking Motion at a Demo Day.  Nobody matched up with it, nobody carried the corners with it, nobody had recovery room with it.  However, the Pin Slasher was another story!  Everybody that threw it was raving about it.  I left three or four stone 9 pins with it because it generated so much backend angle even with my lower rev rate.  Its reaction shape reminded me a lot of my Storm Gravity Shift actually.

I, too, experienced problems with the SM i threw. read the midlane decently, but nothing all that special. it didn't give me much recovery room either. at the pins it was a bag of marshmallows. had lots of trouble kicking out the corners.

the NVD, on the other hand, is a monster. lots of power throughout the whole lane. i haven't met one person who has said negative things about it yet.

NVD all the way. Depending on surface OOB would be above gamebreaker. If he goes with SM will be under black widow pearl way under. SM is a turd

How many of you all have thrown and/or own all 3?
