Mission 2.0 problems
« on: April 01, 2012, 02:50:19 PM »
i got a mission 2.0 recently and at first it was a beast hit really hard carried everything light in the 1-3 pocket hooked alot but since this week in league it just stopped im 5 boards left with my feet and a lot slower with speed and its still not coming back in any kind of oil and ive only got about 30-40 games on it. i clean it even if i only throw it a game or game and a half with ebonite energizer powerhouse cleaner. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what i can do to bring it back to life

Could the lane oil pattern have changed or some open bowling removed some of the head oil this week?

Otherwise, even after 30 -40 games many of the newer coverstocks absorb oil like a sponge. It could just need an oil extraction.

3rd, have you kept the surface fresh?  Most balls need a surface refreshing (not resurfacing) every 25 games or so.

It could be any one of these or a combination of them.

Its imperative that you clean the bowl with something decent after every league night..before it goes back in the bag.
I ran across some really good ones in baton rouge called adrenaline wipes.
The guys at the Ebonite booth are using them

On the spinner, I'm using clean n dull, which is also very good

i will really consider the adrenaline wipes and ive decided to just bake my sauce and take it back to oob for the time being because the league i bowl in is over soon and the closest place to get a ball baked is 45min away so its not very convinient

I've hear several things that were out rageous that I would never do to the "technology" we spend good money on, from putting them in the dish washer to putting them in the over.  I read an article on deep cleaning you can do your self that is safe.  First let me say your pro-shop can service your equipment, but I've done this with great results.

1.Set  the ball(s) in your sink or tub(more than 2) and run the water as hot as it goes till they are submerged.

2.Sqeeze some Dawn liquid dish washing into the water after its run to avoid bubbles.

Watch the oil after about 10-20mins float to the surface.

3.Wash them(wipe them down good in the same water)and Drain after 30mins.

4.Run the hottest water again over the balls to esure the Dawn is completely off and dry throughly(GENTLY dry the holes with the towel and srcew driver.

5. Hit the surface with your Energizer cleaner(good to do after each game for the surface cleaning, the pores are open)

Take it to the lanes and watch what me and my friend do, Watch the ball go YAACKKAA!!

P.S. No need to clean after "each game", ment to say each session of bowling.

The article I got this info from was in BOWLING THIS MONTH, BEST OF BTM "Lifespan of bowling balls (Part 1) to use Dawn, the technique was by a bowling associate and I.

I'm leaning more towards oil pattern change

+1 on the hot water bath option.  DIY and gets the job done just as good as the revivor ovens.
