TJ layout in the Total NV
« on: July 06, 2007, 05:59:48 AM »
Looking for some input on how this layout reacts. I have 2 TNV's now and I'm looking to try this drilling on another one. All of my specs are in my profile. My first one has layout #1. Goes long with minimal break for me. Nice ball to go to on shorter patterns and for playing down and in. My other one has the pin under the ring finger with the MB at about 75 degrees. This ball forces me into about 25 at the arrows and I have to throw it out to about 5 to keep it on the right side of the head pin. Also, this layout hooks a good 2-3 feet sooner. So after all of this I'm just woundering if the TNV with the TJ layout would give me a different look that these 2 balls do. Any input is helpful. Thanks guys in advance!

I have the layout on my TNV.

Though I relocated the MB to a stronger position for a stronger backend move

The ball goes long for me.  I have an AO drilled 5 1/2 (pin over bridge) this ball goes a few feet longer.  I have an RXS300 drilled the same as the TNV, and its even longer.

The ball would go long and snap back to the pocket in a smooth but strong way.  It is great for playing down and in.  The ball didn't like playing the inside lines for me in the box finish.  Great for down and in shots.  Otherwise the ball just couldn't make the turn.

I talk about this ball in past tense because I am no longer using it.  When I first got it drilled, I loved it.  After a while it became inconsistent in its reaction, and now its pretty dead.  I think I may have gotten a blem in terms of way they poured the cover.  My ball is missing the blue additive in the coverstock (if that makes a difference).  So take everything with a grain of salt.

In general, for this layout, it goes longer but retains enough energy to make a turn to the pocket.  I love this layout because I have trouble getting my ball to the breakpoint when the lanes breakdown, but this ball holds line very well, and doesn't react too strongly to the dry.  So through the course of a full set of games, I don't have to stray too far off my desired line.  As of late maybe 1-2 boards with my feet without moving my target.

bowl-2-win, the TJ layout should give you a simillar length to the #1, but with a stronger back end depending on how you drill it. Like Redline, I drilled my mb at 70* instead of 90* for a stronger back end and that is what I got.

Thanks guys, sounds good. So with a little scuff this might be a good ball for the 3 game on a 5 man league night. It will ge through the heads and with a lil bit of a scuff it might be adle to make the move down lane my other TNV wont make. Thanks for you input!

The funny thing about the TNV is if you scuff it or shine it, it changes the reaction more than any other ball I have ever thrown, you might want to invest in the abralon pads, they make a more subtle change than scotch brite or sandpaper. You will have to experiment a little to get the reaction you are looking for.
