The little engine that Could!
« on: August 07, 2003, 04:52:51 PM »
Last night I threw in a two man league for the first time in about 3 months as a sub!

Only competition has been practicing against a local regional player and just about holding my own.

Starting abysmally with my practice monster Riot Zone(dropping the ball).

Had to add three pieces of tape to all balls in this fast moving league and about half way thru second game had switched to my Blue Violet tornado.

About half way thru second game I stopped dropping the Tornado too and went the last 3 games, 207, 227, 255!

Around me scores were dropping as the carrydown set in.  No excuses because on my pair it was just me and my great bowling righty friend and on the second pair it had been a righty and a lefty against a blind.  Conditions should have been exact.

No one else had a ball like the Tornado and none of them could move a little outside and get the push they needed thru the heads to get the attack angle at the pocket.  (Most are much faster than me also) Everyone else was using lower rgs(hyde, crunch, demo zone, or pearl particles(thrash).

This powerhouse backend monster gave me both the push and the backend for this shortish pattern with carrydown shot!

Probably in general I would like the Wild for more conditions(less diff and flare slighly).

But right now the Tornado is impressing the hell out of me!

REGards,

PS Recently on a wetter practice shot(the Riot couldn't miss) I saw the drawbacks to these balls like the Tornado.  the lanes were 1 board difference for the Riot Zone to strike!  The tornado was like 7 boards different.
Sometimes on a slightly longer or wetter pattern these balls will really magnify lane differerences, due to late breakpoint and high diff!
PPS Know when to hold em, know when to fold em!
It takes Courage to have Faith, and Faith to have Courage.
