Arsenal!
« on: August 05, 2003, 11:30:05 PM »
Hey guys i need your opinions. I know we all
want to build an arsenal so we can cover all conditions.
I do agree drill patterns are a big key but
everyone has their favorites they like to stick with which works
best for them.

Lately mine has been label drill patterns by using
130, 4 x 4, 5 x 5 and so on.

If i drilled a complete line of
equipment that covered all conditions but using the same similar
drill patterns above would this be a good idea?

It would seem easier to step up or down a ball when needed.

Plus since all the balls are really strong these days, early drill patterns
seem to make these balls roll earlier and burn out. I got my idea of
drilling these new technology balls weaker from reading the Bowlers Journal
from that particular individual who test and gives a review on each new ball that comes out. I forgot his name.

Please let me know what you think.

Ebonite staffers, your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Denny T just wrote an article about this in BTM. basically if you start out with a Ball drilled 4" Pin to PAP 70 degrees. drilling another 5" pin to pap 75 degree will let you play the lane longer and stay in your comfort zone.

to some degree I like this. in reality I could bowl with just the three strike ball I have now and do just as well. But by drilling balls to fit in between I can use my A release more. combined that with Ron C's Finger dancing tips and you don't need that many balls to do it.

so for me I figuring on 2 for dry/light, 2 for med/light to med/heavy , 1 for med controlled and 1 for real heavy.

so far i have or a looking at"
dry  -5.5" pin, 135 deg pearl resin
light-4.5" pin  45  deg pearl resin
med/light- 4.5" pin 105 strong pearl or polished resin.
med control- 5.5" pin 105 deg. matte resin
med/heavy - 4.5" pin 45 deg pearl particle or dull resin
Heavy - 4" pin 75 deg pearl particle or particle

Well i think i will do this. Drill everything
similar but shift where the pin is. That's all.
The new technology is great.
