The NV will NOT be re-released...
« on: February 08, 2007, 11:21:18 PM »
I know there was some people saying to just wait and the NV will be re-released, well I received an email from Ed Gallagher with Ebonite and here is what he said:

"Regarding the NV – We gave our word to pro shop operators at our seminars that we would price protect the ball, and we will honor our commitment. So, we will not re-release this ball again!!!!"

"We are only making the 15# balls that we need in order to take care of the orders that we need to fulfill. After that it is done!!! You are getting the word from me, and it is my final decision, no one else makes these decisions…"

If you want one, better get one because when they are gone, they are gone for good.. I have no reason not to believe. Mr Gallagher. He has always been upfront and honest with me.

I have one on order and can't wait to get it!!

So, is this going to be something similar to Columbia's "The Professional", but maybe a lower production run?

What ever happened to that ball?  Wasn't it just a "limited edition" version of one of the "Bully" balls?

Does that mean that Ebonite won't produce anything similar to the "NV" in the future?  Different name and different colors but same core, same coverstock.

What would happen if EVERYONE boycotted Ebonite for not making more and making it a main release ?

You can bet your arse they would make more then !

All they need is the "right" motivation

No. One may have cracked and it's probably due to poor drilling technique or super glue placement; the usual culprits.

why in the world would you boycott ebonite?? If they want to make a limited release ball, so what.. 302 efi, I am assuming you are kidding??

They can make as many or as less of any ball they want. I think its great they are gonna stand by their word and not make anymore of them just because the demand is there..

as far as them releasing the ball under another name, I doubt that very much.. That would be the same thing as re-releasing the NV..

also, not sure I would compare the NV to the professional.. That ball was not new technolgy at all.. The NV is new core and coverstock..

why does someone always have to start the "I heard they are cracking" rumour.. Most of the cracking issues are normally caused by bad drilling..

I was just saying that your customers can make or break your company. You said that Ed was firm he said that they will not re-release the ball. So you really think that they would loose a customers $ and not make the ball if there was a big enough demand ?

Let say 1,000,000 people called Ebonite and said wanted one...You think Ebonite would pass that $ up ?

Notta chance.

I didn't say that they can't do want they want..hell, its their company.

...Just keep in mind they are not in business to lose the chance of making money.

Ed sent the same to me.  J

Boycotting ebonite nope can't do that they are by far the number one ball manufacter right now.  Storm has slowed to a crawl with realeases, brunswick if trying to figure out how to sell a qlty ball, and columbia well ebonite own them now.

For the cracking issue the only thing I know that would crack these balls is this leave the ball inside near a cold wall or window.  That will crack it.  I had two of my one crack just sitting inside my home constant temp of 74 but never thought about how close they were to the wall.

But it is the glue or drilling that causes the stress cracks on balls.  If a drill bit is not sharp enough it will vibrate the cover and cause the problems your hearing of.  But its in no means the qlty of the ball.

It looks to my like this is Ebonite's way of teasing the public into craving a ball so badly that they will be willing to pay "Elite" prices for one. I think this is in very bad taste on Ebonite's part. If the NV will not be available, what was the point of a limited release? And by limited, I mean minescule. Ebonite has fine equipment and i have thrown Ebo exclusively for years, but this "tempt and pull" tactic used to promote a ball that will not be released is nothing more than a very bad marketing scheme, from the public's eye.
Ebonite still has fine equipment, but I really question the intelligence of the marketing team and the judgement of the CEO. This is a pathetic attempt at creating a demand for a product that they will undoubtedly release at a later date, and at a price that only a few can pay. And the sad part is that this ball is no better than anything else they offer. But it will demand a $400.00 price tag. BAD MOVE, EBO!!

I just don't see what the big deal is... Ebonite made a ball for pro shop seminar buy 16 total nv's to get one nv on a limited basis and even made them limited to the pros as well. They where give 1 maybe 2 of them and thats it..

If the thinking is this ball is not any better than anything else or its to expensive, then don't buy it. Ebonite is not telling anyone to pay those ridicuous ebay prices for this ball. The online pro shops list the ball on ebay and the prices go up because thats the market value for the ball. Thats not Ebonites fault, sorry. They are not making anymore moey on the ball aftr the pro shops get it. Its all about supply and demand and the supply is limited so the demand might be high..

The bottom line is this. If you can't afford it or don't want it. No big deal.. The PBA price to members for this ball is $200, and only ONE can be purchased, period.. Its not like they are trying to screw the public.

Sorry, thats just how I feel..

You missed the point entirely. I'm not saying anything about Ebay. I dont care about Ebay and dont buy, or price balls from Ebay. I'm saying that Ebonite put this ball into the hands of a few shop owners as a tease to the public, to create great interest amnd mystique about a product they now say is not available. WHY? Because eveyone wants what they cannot have and are willing to pay huge dollars for that privelge. What will happen after the hype cools down? Ebo will release the limited edtion NV at a much inflated price tag. It's not a magic ball. It's not adorned with a solid gold core. It's nothing more than a good bowling ball. But it WILL be released at a premium price. Mark my words.

i think they are afraid that once they put out the NV's they are not goin to sell as many total NV as they are doin now, so its not a bad decision at all

but comming back, brunswick will re-release any discountinued ball if some1 orders a big amount, like 500 balls, i think thats what they did with the original inferno
--------------------
When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one

I wonder how much profit one could make buying 500 balls from Brunswick's discontinued balls?
