The One coverstock type
« on: September 06, 2006, 09:05:04 AM »
...just a simple question: is the GB10.7 coverstock on the one a solid coverstock or a pearl?

Background is that I received my SR300, also with Gb10.7, but to my surprise it is a pearl ball with a very fine mica glitter in the coverstock. Not the traditional fancy "candy" pearl.

I was surprised because Ebonite does not state "pearl" anywhere in the SR300 descriptions - so I am wondering if GB10.7 is true solid on The One? I have only seen one of these balls so far in real life (Ebonite has become rare around here), so I cannot tell.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Dizzy the GB 10.7 cover is a solid reactive resin cover.  Both balls have the exact same coverstocks and they are both Solid coverered balls. I know even the SR300 looks pearl but Ebonite says it is a solid cover.  The doom a hammer ball is also a solid cover and i use to swear it was a pearlized bowling ball.  The difference in reactin is cover prep and core strenght the Sr300 should be longer down the lane because of a weaker core that doesn't spin up as fast.

Thank you for the input. I was really surprised by the SR300's looks - I would not call it a true pearl (the black seems to be solid), but the fact that it has some mica blended into the green and blue stuff confused me a little. It looks pretty, though, and I am looking forward to roll it once it is drilled.

Is The One similar, also with some mica? Or a "pure" solid?

They are both exactly the same coverstock just different colors,  neither one of them has any mica added to make any pearl.  This was told to me directly by someone high up at Ebonite.

The Doom is a pearlized reactive.

Thanks for the clarification, Ron. But why did Ebonite not state it somewhere? I thought the SR 300 was a "real" solid, so I got one "blindly".

I guess the reaction difference will not matter much, though, a d I might set the pin a tad lower than I wanted to for a little earlier roll.

I found it a bit misleading, since the official ball pictures (e. g. on Ebonite's website) do not show its pearl character?
