big one... wow this ball is strong!

Thought i would popst a quick mini review since i'm sure many of you are curious as to this new release from ebonite:

drilling-pin 5 inches from pap under bridge, mass bias at 60 degrees, weighthole just below axis

pro anvil surface- shot is pretty heavy and had carrydown from open bowlers. I wanted a ball to handle heavier lane conditions but that wouldn't read as early as a lot of my other heavy oil stuff does.

I honestly cannot believe how strong this ball is on the backend. I have thrown a lot of balls over the past 3 years, and can tell you that this thing has more backend than any ball I have seen. I cannot believe that this ball was handling oil and carrydown and still snapping back so hard. I literally had infinite room to miss right, no matter how far right i threw it, it would come back. The problem with this was if i pulled it at all, the ball had no hold. Straight through the nose if i got even a touch soft or pulled it even in the slightest amount. Great continuation through the pin deck, finishing in the 8 pin spot very often even on this heavy oil pattern.

I threw this side by side my diesel, ultimate inferno, diablo, and fired up. It really reminded me of the fired up on steroids, allowing me to play way in of where i am used to playing at this house. It was stronger than every ball on the backend by a good margin, and I would bet that if the surface was the same as my diesel and ultimate inferno, it would handle oil just as well if not better than either of those balls (i still like keeping those balls specifically for either floods or carrydown, respectively and will keep the big one in a different spot). I'm going to keep the surface as is, because it is filling in a niche very nicely in that all my heavy oil stuff rolled very early, yet this surprisingly seemed to work very well on the heavier stuff and still maintained a very angular ball reaction.

Wow!

That's almost the exact opposite of mine.  Right now, its getting (or I'm getting) better with handling carry down, but the backend is still very controlled, and I have lots of hold if I pull it, and mine is drilled with a more aggressive pin placement.

Though I do agree this ball is a hook monster.

I took it to the lanes today, they hadn't oiled it since the league last night, so needless to say-a 2nd shift league and open play definitely killed the shot.  I could clearly see the differeces in strength.  The One never came back to the back to the pocket playing inside or straight down...just skid city.  The Big One played the same lines only 3-4 boards deeper and still overhooked in the back ends.  The Xcel did well as usal...and I was about 1-2 boards deeper.

Overall, I'm still not getting too much read on what The One and Big One are capable of doing compared to my benchmarked Xcel...but I love their reactions.

Even though your drilling may be stronger, it may be stronger earlier on than my ball is.

My mass bias placement is prone to give this "flip reaction," along with the weaker pin placement giving the ball some more length. I honestly haven't had a ball react like this since I drilled up my first freak, and even that wasn't as angular as this is on a pretty heavy oil pattern.
