Ebonite bowling balls
« on: December 20, 2005, 11:41:59 AM »
I’m looking for some advice on Ebonite bowling balls.  I’m a 53 year old male getting back into the sport.  I guess I would consider myself stroker / tweener with a ball speed of 17 MPH and a high ball track.  I’d rather play up the boards than circle the whole lane.  Has this game changed from the early 80s!

At present I have the follow:

Columbia Bully
Ebonite Predator Sparkle
Storm Hot Rod
Columbia White Dot

I was thinking of the following Ebonite balls:
Oil - Big Time or Overtime
Med - Big Time Pearl
Med-Lt - Black Ice
Dry - Cross Fire

Don't know HOW you can leave THE ONE out. It's a FANTASTIC ball .. I would say it fits as a MED/HVY ball .. it should be considered!

I would say for someone just getting back in, go Big Time or OverTime. They are a little more forgiving. If you can handle it go The One, but it is touchy.

Oil - OverTime. I think it's just a better ball than the Big Time.

the rest looks pretty good, IMO

That does sound like it should do the job.

Oil - Big Time or Overtime
Oil-Med The One
Med - Big Time Pearl
Med-Lt - Black Ice
Dry - Cross Fire

Thanks for the advice.

Pretty good, but the crossfire is rather strong, the fire is much better for dry.  Overall hook on typical house shot, the cross fire will out hook the Black Ice.  If you get the one take some polish off or it will skate.
