Hmm...well, my experience with my "The One" is that it tends to be a little on the condition specific side. Now, keep in mind that this is usually the case with any high performance balls from any manufacturer. They tend to be developed to meet a more specific need than say a mid-priced ball...like your Doom. That said, my "The One" does go long (and mine has a pretty aggressive drill with pin up) but, that is what it is supposed to do. When it hits the dry it takes off like a shot though. I have found that I will usually end up throwing my Doom first, when that starts to squirt or gets a bit choppy I next move to my Absolute Inferno. When that starts to over-react I use "The One" next. It will get through the heads and mids easily and as long as I hit the dry where I intend I can control the break point pretty well.
The drilling you have on "The One" suggests a pretty strong reaction. The ball will go long but, should have a lot of backend assuming you have fresh dry back there. As far as the "Big One" being more aggressive...that's what is supposed to do. From the pics in your profile, it looks like a lot of your stuff is drilled very similar. I have found that you can only go so far by having the same setup on each ball and rely on the differences in coverstock/core combinations to make up the difference.
I found that when I first started throwing "The One" that it took a little work to understand what the ball's limitations are given the setup on the ball, coverstock prep., my delivery, ball speed, lane conditions, and line. On the right conditions the ball is just plain awesome. I've found that it is by no means an "all purpose" ball like the Doom. Here's a quick illustration...last Monday, first shift house shot about 42' clean back end. The One did not recover enough in the backend (the house has not had much backend all year). Used the Doom went 698 with a 279. Thursday evening second shift, same house, league before us has all skill level of bowlers. So, they tend to slosh the oil all over the place...you never know what you are going to see. Pulled out the Doom and it was erratic. Chose to use "The One", smoothed the shot out and I ended up with a pretty solid night...shot 644. So, the moral of the story I guess is that you need to understand what the lane is telling you first of all and second, have an aresenal where each ball has a role to play. Once your there you then need to have the courage to choose the correct ball...not one simply because you favor it. They are tools...nothing more.
My advice, keep working with the arsenal you have. Looks to me that you are off to a good start. Don't be discouraged.
