I will be the voice of dissent. With the box shine still on it, mine needs to find dry in order to react cleanly. Perhaps the opinions of the others is based upon them using the ball with that factory shine knocked off.

I haven't seen a ball made that will completely ignore carrydown.

I have 2 of them, and even the one i drilled to go very long and not have alot on the backend will ignore carry down. both of mine are OOB finish and they have no problem with carry down. You might want to wait a little bit tho for a Big One.

that's amazing how well their balls work in carrydown.
-
maybe if there is a ball that will ignore carrydown, or a hang spot,
or out of bounds, they could recommend it to mr. jones, seems like he had a problem if he got the ball out, and it went high if on line, "167 game"
than again he did not use the one, wonder why??? maybe they did not tell him about the one at that time???
now back on earth,
have not seen many balls with sharp breakpoint type of drilling's work on carrydown!!!!
but than again, i have not seen any pigs that can fly!!!!

What the heck are you talking about?
What balls have you seen that work well on carrydown? I want one.

The ball doesn't ignore carrydown, but I find it works well on such lane conditions. A typical ths with carrydown, to me, is defined as a lane condition that has a lighter volume of oil in the heads and the midlane, however a heavier volume on the backend, with, obviously more length. Most equipment tends to "back up" on such a lane condition. The ball hooks, but without angularity and continuation, and usually too early. Said in another way: the ball's hooking zone seems to be expanded, rather than being clean, roll and direction change, the ball has a short skid phase, followed by a premature roll phase, and a late, weak direction change.
I find that the One works ok oob on this condition, but is much better with surface adjustments. I sanded mine down to 1000 and applied storm xtra shine. The ball, in this surface is very good on carrydown. It allows the ball to get through the heads cleanly , and there is angularity that is unparalleled on the backend. The ball really slices the carrydown. I would see the Big One as a ball that will cut carrydown also, but with a heavier, longer, initial volume of oil.

Thanks for all the opinions and info.
Got The One punched up last night. Pin 1/2" above and right of ring a 4 1/2" pin to PAP for me and MB 2" right of thumb a 55 deg. layout. Left the OOB finish on it and I am going to try it this way for a bit.
Rolled some shots on older wood that is well maintained at my pro shop. Leftovers from Friday. Heads were gone and I moved into 20 to 8 and I am a believer now. Very nice reaction on some carry down.
Best Ebonite ball I've seen in some time. I would recommend to anyone. Now....I see why so many love this ball.

Yeah, I know that is pretty much what you said. BUT, as I asked WHAT BALLS HAVE YOU SEEN THAT WORK WELL? (as you said...."don't know of too many balls that work in highly polished covers on carrydown") This leads one to believe that there ARE A FEW that DO WORK WELL, I was asking which ones DO WORK WELL? Thanks for your time and answers to my question.

Sorry for your problem HB. Since, I started the post I will report tonite on AMF HPL with moderate carry down after 1/2 way thru the set with OOB on a medium heavy condition The One first set I ever shot with it I had 781. This ball is what most have been raving about.
