Title: The One Pearl

I am having some trouble getting my one pearl to re-act sharp on the backends. I tried it once on my normal house shot but I don't know if it was the way he oiled last night or what but it seemed like i just ayed $120 for a spare ball instead of the "sharp backend" ball i thought i was getting. I didn't mess with the surface yet (didn't want to screw with it till i got some input) The pin is directly above my fingers and drilled to go long and snap. So far not at all what expected....any help would be greatly appreciated.

where is the mb marking???

And the pin in relationship to your PAP??

If you remember,on the original ONE it didn't hook well until it was sanded down to about 800-1000 and brought back up. Something about the factory sanding and polish keeps this ball from doing its thing.

Just punched my one pearl up today. my driller scuffed the back flare with an abralon pad the ball really began to hook or as he called it peel in the backend getting very angular. prior to scuffing what he called the back flare the reaction was not as pronounced. Id give that a try.

I'm sure you know but nonuniform sanding is illegal, but then again its damn near impossible to prove it. What I find with most factory finish balls the polish at times can be too much, if that is the case i'll grab a 4000 abralon pad and lightly scuff by hand. It normally does the trick.

I might be wrong but this ball doesn't come polished does it? I could have swore it was 4000 abralon finish.

the ball did come with a polished finish. i scuffed the polish off with the 4000 abralon but haven't thrown in since doing so. i'll give it a try tonight let you guys know how it works. thanks a bunch!

thats very odd because i swear that at the end of the o'neill allen match today o'neill threw a strike with it and pa asked o'neill if "thats the ball that never hooks" maybe this ball isn't ball ebonite thought it would be

I have a friend who is on Ebonite staff and he has no problem with his wheeling the corner.  He has not adjusted the cover at all.  His ball rolls like Jesus, IMO of course.  He drilled his ball using the Mo Pinel Dual Angle Layout.

Not everyone can get a ball to turn the corner hard. It's called hand people. Get some. Get a buddy to stand down the lane and kick it left for ya.

Seriously though, it's all about drilling layout and hand position. More around the side of the ball and you get sharp motion towards the pins. Up the back equals smoother reaction.

I drilled mine roughly the same as drilling #2 on Ebonite's site.

Took the polish off and the ball is great. turns sharp on the backends. Great Ball!
