Gamebreaker Impressions
« on: December 17, 2008, 10:40:59 AM »
I know I'm a little late to the party with this one, but I've only had a Gamebreaker for a couple of months.  Up until about a week ago, I wasn't throwing the ball well enough to get a good feel for what a ball does well and doesn't do well.  But I've finally fixed the major physical game issue and I'm throwing the ball much better.

I put the pin under and between the fingers with the CG kicked out 45 and a weight hole on the side in the thumb quadrant to take out a little thumbweight.  Initially, this ball didn't have the weight hole, but after 3-4 games of watching it hook/stop, a weight hole was added.  I also took it to 4000 abralon so it would be a little cleaner in the front and have a little more kick in the back.  This ball isn't nearly as aggressive as I thought it would be partially because the layout.  What this ball turned out to be is a fairly strong midlane and smooth backend ball.  It almost rolls like a ball with a pin axis or Rico layout, but cleaner through the front.

I used this ball in 2 different centers, the first center has an AMF HPL surface with alot of friction outside of the 10 board.  The Gamebreaker with this layout killed this because of the milder response to friction.  This was one of the few bowling balls that I've been able to leak right a little early and still hit the pocket.  Most of my other stuff has gone high or Brooklyn at this particular center.  This ball will definitely see some time on league night in this center in the near future.   The other center has brand new BW Pro Anvilanes with A22 oil.  This was on league night and there was a little more oil on the lanes then there had been earlier in the season.  I was able to play out pretty well the first 2 games, but I had to get it started early and soften the speed up.  As they broke down, it was still rolling OK, but I couldn't find a happy medium, it would either roll too early and go high if I squared up and wouldn't make the corner if I moved in.

In closing, I think this Gamebreaker will work well on patterns that have a very well defined friction zone.  I think it'll be great for shorter and over/under patterns as well.  I think that with this layout, longer and slicker patterns will be trouble.  I'll post a full review once I've gotten a chance to throw it a few other bowling centers and on some tougher oil patterns, but I like what I see so far, just wasn't exactly what I expected.

I have a Gamebreaker with Pin under RF slighted towards the bridge the and CG out just enough that I don't need a weight hole. This ball will recover from just about anywhere. I have had it for acouple of months but haven't used it a lot, but do use it some, because my Playmaker is my first love and first ball out of my bag. Were it not for the Playmaker, the Gamebreaker would get a lot more use. The Gamebreaker comes out of my bag when I have to move left a bit and throw right a bit as well as when there is carrydown. These 2 balls are a great 1-2 combination for me.
