Total NV Problem
« on: March 23, 2007, 12:42:39 PM »
Its either amazing or terrible. In oil it skids way too long and hooks hard but too late and leaves splits for me. I tried the ball at 2000 grit but then it hooked early. It seems all my other balls out hook this ball even my Blue Vibe. I have pics of the layout in my profile. The ball has no x hole. Should i try putting a hole would it make a differnce. I am on the fence here. I am willing to try anything. If I dont see any improvment im gonna dump the ball. Any help is apreciated

The drilling you have will make the ball go long and have an angular back end. Before putting holes in it or getting rid of it, there are a couple of things with the surface you can try, like 4000 abralon no polish, or 1000 grit then polish. The factory finish is 4000 abralon then polish which is very smooth. Using a rougher grit before polish will make a noticeable difference.

I agree with Cobalt Bomb

I took mine to 500, then 1000, the factory finish.  Now it gets through the heads really well, reads the mids nice and is pretty strong in the back end.  Mine is laid out 5 x 75 deg pin over the ring, no hole.

Also, adding a hole would make it start a little earlier and slightly decrease its backend... Im all for the adjusting the surface slightly. Also, what kind of shot are you using/ planning to use this ball on? That could also dictate what adjustments you should make

I haven't changed the surface from OOB and its still going amazing. I really never change grit on a ball unless I have a purpose to.
