Big Time

A guy at work currently has a big time(black and silver), but wants something current that compares to it in reaction. Any suggestions???

Huh? Hybrid pearl/solid cover to replace particle? Huh?

My best guess would be:

Brunswick Sidewinder -- one of the smoother rolling pearl particles on the market today. You could dull it if need be, or take a look at the Brunsick Mammoth (a heavy load particle ball; might have to polish it).

Ebonite, BTW, has stopped making particle balls for whatever reason (i.e., people didn't buy them in bulk like big backend-ing balls). It's really a pity, though, and it is why I had to suggest something outside of Ebonite.

Other options, depending on drilling, would include:

AMF Radar Alert, possibly polished
Legends/Lanemasters Counter Strike
Legends/Lanemasters Sting (weaker drilling)
Legends/Lanemasters Terminator (even slightly weaker drilling)

Thank ou revTrex. I will let him know. Seems like every company not just ebonite has started to get out of the solid particle biz for the most part and going with the 4000 abralon sheen

It might sound stupid but if he wants another Ebonite email them and ask what new ball is about the same.

That'd be nice, if it worked. Problem is, there is no ball like the Big Time in the current Ebonite line:

NVS
Complete NV
Angular One
Raid
RXS300
Gamebreaker
Clash
Bash
Tornadoes
Maxims

Can you find a ball that would be smooth-rolling and handle a decent amount of oil? Uh...no! No particle covers, no real heavy oil balls, nothing! This isn't a rant at you, BTW, but...what good will calling or emailing Ebonite do when, clearly, a simple perusal of the current line-up shows that there are no balls similar?

The best ball, however, to replace the Big Time if one had to choose would be the GameBreaker in my opinion.  I know some people that have smooth rolling ones and with a lower grit it can handle a decent amount of oil(not like the big time I bet though).

ironically, i started from the ebo' big time , then went to a sidewinder, then to an ultra zone.  all three gave me different looks (different drillings, however).

compared to the Big Time, the Sidewinder was mellower at the breakpoint. It seemed to lay off at the pins instead of rolling through them.  On the other hand the ultra zone was much more aggressive in back.  It would rev up in the midlane and take off from the breakpoint. then again, it is a reactive, showing a more pronounced change of direction.

having said that, i think the sidewinder's reaction would resemble the big time, with a slightly less aggressive backend motion.  I would like to try a Gamebreaker sometime soon though. Maybe there would be a slight resemblance there too.

Dull a Raid to 1000 grit and you will get as close as possible if you want to stay in the Ebonite line. The RG & Diff. at 15lbs is virtually identical. The stronger coverstock will offset the lack of particle. If you want to stay with a light load particle, dull a Bruns. Sidewinder to 1000 grit and you will be close in reaction shape. Dull particle pearls will get you as close as you can get if you want to stay particle.

didnt think you were ranting at me, i guess when i asked that question that had a ball that was similar. You are correct i love the equipment but finding things to replace certain balls is hard.
