try my hand with ebi since the V2 - cyclone any good?
« on: September 20, 2017, 04:11:34 PM »
I want to try my hand on Ebi once more starting with the cyclone. I don't know much about this ball, or any ball for that matter under the label. But, it's cheap and lately I like pearl balls.

The conditions I bowl on forces me to "stand left and shoot right" after the first game in the first shift. And worse in the second shift - me and the ball returns are getting to know each other really well. It's not that I want to play this way, it's the area where I carry much better and often.

Hopefully users can drop some personal info on this ball and if replies are good enough...I'll by this ball this today...or tomorrow..:D

Oh... I have the Rave and Blue hammer in the bag.....

The Cyclone is probably the best value ball considering it's price and has one of the best covers Ebonite has ever produced, GB 10.7

The Cyclone is not your ordinary entry level ball.  It will rival most mid performance balls as the ball is pretty strong for its price point.  The ball is very skid/flippy so on drier conditions, it could be uncontrollable on the back.  However; it will compliment the Rave and Blue Hammer well.

The cyclone is one of my favorite balls. It rolls very consistently for me. I highly recommend it.

The Cyclone is a really good piece!!!  The price point you cannot beat! Plus it rolls really nice.  I think that the cover does it!!! Give it a try!

Don't drill them weak and change the OOB surface. These come 500/1000/2000/4000 Abralon then polish so it makes them extremely skiddy out of the box. OOB They fly to the breakpoint and may give you some over under. I've had about 6 Cyclones since their inception in different colors/layouts and It's the best value ball ever made IMO.

My best results from these balls were

Black/Gold/Silver
4" pin down, hole 2 1/2 down on VAL
Surface at 500/1000 polish

Green/Yellow
4 1/2" pin high, hole 1" past PAP
Surface at 500/2000

I don't know.  Some of those BVP balls back in the day were pretty good as well.
Kind of noob when made this account so take advice with grain of salt.

These are priced about $30 less retail than the BVPs.  I should have said entry level priced.

Ah got ya.  Yeah that is a great deal and saw that when I was looking for a weaker pearl but Pyramid Path Rising was a bit cheaper and wanted to check them out plus the diff on the Ebi ball was a bit higher than I was looking for which is probably much of the reason the ball performs so well along with that tried and true coverstock.  May regret it (Cyclone will probably handle more oil for example) but oh well.

Speaking of "weak" drilling, I made the mistake with one of 3 tropical breezes I've owned. And When I asked to have it drilled with a longer pin to pap, I remembered how  my Sonic X pearl was with that layout, I hated it. Well history repeated itself with the TB.

The other two were very good to me and were my THS balls for two seasons till I went up in ball weight and sold them....

I plan on using my favorite layout with a 4" pin 65 x 4 x 30. I like the RED/WHITE/BLUE.... I'll purchase it today or Monday...

thanks for the input fellas

Definitely a top pick IMO in that price point.  You really get a ton of ball for the money by having a good core and even better cover.

Confused.. is the GB 10.7 a pearl? Or a solid?

The black/gold/silver cyclone is in the solid category on buddies..

BTM has it as a pearl
