Turbo Sandbagger
« on: November 14, 2011, 06:04:29 AM »
Anyone seen or tried this product? It looks like it would be great, but I'm skeptical about the dry-sanding being too harsh on the coverstock.

Any thoughts?

It's no more rough on a coverstock than any other abrasive. Mirlon is Mirka corporation's (Inventor, maker, marketer of Abralon) version of Scotch-Brite pads, as far as I know.

See Mirlon

Heck, P1500 and P2500 grit is much less abrasive than many other grades some people are using.

saw this at demo days back in early summer.
the options of only 1500 and 2500 is what I question
believe it was Lou Markeze (sp?) from Turbo, he was very high on this new product and that guy has extreme knowledge of surfaces/lane conditions/etc...
dry sanding is used on spinners everywhere, this wont be an issue, the heat of sanding the cover can be an issue if it heats the cover to much (why wet sanding is used) on a spinner
just my $.02 worth from a house hack

Since it comes with 1500 and 2500, you can certainly put whatever grit pad you want in there,
remembering that sanding during bowling is verboten!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the quick responses. I'm trying to save a little money by doing all of my surface refreshers myself, so for 30 bucks I don't see the harm in trying something out. I've blown 30 bucks on a lot less productive reasons for sure.

I really don't mind the two grit levels they give. I have everything at either Gray scotch brite (dull) or Gray with Magic Shine, so it won't be too big of a difference on the shots I play on.
