Unknown Ball
« on: February 24, 2009, 05:35:00 PM »
My driller has a ball in his shop that has been sitting around for years. Way back he received something called a Tomb Raider. I have found some pictures of different tomb raiders but nothing like this. This ball is a solid black and gray at about 2000 grit. Anyone have info on this ball? Back then he was told by Ebonite that there was no such ball.

Nope I looked right at it tonight and even have several pictures of it that I will get up in the morning. It came in a Savage box as a mistake. I have seen a couple of pictures of something balled the Tomb Raider SE but nothing just called a Tomb Raider...

There used to be a "Tomb Raider" overseas ball from Hammer 2-3 years ago, for Korea, I think:

Original Hammer core from the Blades, but with a more modern coverstock ("Power Grip Reactive"). Not sure if this was the only ball, I think there was also another one with a core from the Vicious line? But I do not remember that it was black/grey... had also bright colors.

There is a "tomb raider" listed on USBC list of approved balls as of April 02

This ball came with a case of Savages so 97ish. It is clearly marked Ebonite Tomb Raider.

If it's a sanded solid black ball (maybe little white caused by phasing) with white logos of Tomb Raider, yes it was made by Ebonite for the market in Korea.  Ebonite logo should of been on the ball also.
If you can send me a photo I can confirm which core and cover is on the ball.

Can you also send me the serial number to confirm since the logo color is not what I expected.

The color of the ball, the pin, and the logo strangely remind me of an ebonite ball I had from about that time.  All three factors match up very well with this ball

http://www.123bowl.com/ball.asp?ballid=630

I know that picture shows white logos and wierd color, but mine was gold with a gold pin and looked very much like yours does in your pics..

Wonder if it could've just been a mis-labeled ball that slipped out by accident?

Wild Cat / 8 ball core with Pantera shell.  Should have a good mid lane motion even with the newer lane surface and lane condtioners.

Logo gold and yellow pin is correct.  Enjoy because you won't find another ball like that one

I think that is the TombRaider Ace, an overseas releae. Look it up, it is the exact same as the Total NV. Seen a few on E-bay recently

The ball is a Tomb Raider from 2002
I know because the CG location is engraved with the Ebonite logo
