Would the finish alone make the difference?

Hey everyone,

I have been throwing The One for over a month, and I love it to death. It's everything that I hoped it would be, and more. Now, I left mine in box finish, which is highly polished. I am looking to add another ball to the arsenal, one that checks up a bit sooner and is more controllable on the backend. If I decided to drill up another One, but scuffed the surface down on this one, would that give me what I want? I guess what I'm asking is, would it be enough to take down the surface but leave the drilling the same, or do you think I'd have to drill the second one different as well? Let me know what you think.

I think it's a good idea.  My shops owner did this with two different ONEs and it was a great 1-2 punch for him...even won a very demanding tournament with the them.

Thanks for the input guys, but my real question is whether or not the change in surface alone will provide me with that different look. Would I be wise to choose another layout as well, or will knocking the shine off and keeping the same layout give me the desired result?

A surface change alone will give you a different look, but without watching you ball and knowing more about the conditions you face I can't say if it will give you all of the desired change on it's own.  I would think that a different drilling along with the surface change would be a better way to go.
