I have an ice, pin under ring- cg out right(positive). Tonight I was able to trade a ball for a fire drilled almost identical to the ice.

What I would like to know is, what difference can I expect from these two? I know the ice is trimax and the fire is big bang xl. I also knoe the ice weightblock is from the stinger low flare series and the fire's is from the original stinger series.

Anyone who has experience with these two, could you please tell me your experience with them? Pizz?

for whatever reason i didnt like the ice. i do love the black ice to death!! maybe it's the layouts..

i never did drill a fire. it was always suggested that i could find the fire's type of reaction in another ball. since the fire was so weak in oil, the ball needed a definite area of friction... which would cause over/under.

the difference will be the cover.. the trimax is weaker than the big bang XL..

from reading about the layouts...do either of the balls have a weight hole? if the fire does, i would have it weighed, if the sideweight is not at 0, then have the proshop drill it out til it is 0, this should give it a more predictable read.

Paul,

Let me get this straight. The trimax is WEAKER than the big bang xl? If so, why was the fire so weak in oil? My ice is GREAT on mediums ( for me ), and the above comment would lead me to believe that the fire would be stronger than the ice. If it is, does that mean stronger overall or just on the backends at the breakpoint? I was hoping to be able to move my feet right on the approach with the fire and still get it to the breakpoint at the right position and angle.

And yes, the fire has a small, deep hole on the val, while the ice has no x-hole.

One reason I was interested in the fire so much was, back a few years ago, I shot a 300 with an original stinger purple pearl. The fire has a weightblock very similar to that ball.

Lastly, what effect would it have on the fire if I ended up having to put a "grittier" finish on it, say 2000 abralon? It appears to still have the original factory finish and polish on it and only has about 5 games on it.
