V2 Strong?
« on: July 12, 2006, 01:39:29 PM »
A friend gave me a V2 Strong. Cover is in pretty good shape, drilled righty.
Is the ball worth replugging snd redrilling?

I threw it on dry lanes, pin and cg is in my track (I'm lefty)...
Ball had very controlled roll...I imagine redrilling it left-handed the ball would be pretty strong.

Any input appreciated.

This ball flares a ton off the hand.  I have a NIB one that I'll probaly hang onto for a few months or until I plan a big tournament down the line that I know will have enough volume for it.  I remember throwing a friends v2 strong two handed because I couldn't fit the span, the flare rings were almost an inch apart and flared about 8-9 inches total.  It was very strong very early and I think the only way that one warrant the use for it is on higher volumes of oil(especially in the heads) or with a weak drill and polish.  A friend of mine that used to be on staff with Ebonite loved his V2 Strong with a high pin layout and Ebonite's Factory finish polish.  I remember he made matchplay at the US Open one year throwing that and a V2 Clean primarily with the same layouts.

This really could be one's "flood" ball.  It has everything you need for a ton of hook:

-Medium Load Strong Particle Shell
-Early Revving High flaring core(.074 diff in 14lbs!!)
-Lots of flare early

DP3,
Thanks for the info...Ball's no longer on Ebonite's site.

I didn't know it was a Med. Load Particle...I may redrill the ball for heavy oil.

Thanks again.
