Title: Videos of the new balls
Post by: InternationalBowler on August 04, 2007, 06:27:08 PM
We did some videos of the new balls. Go to http://www.bowltowin.dk/index.htm to see them. I'm no wizard when it comes to video editing so the videos are what they are

On edit. I know the Raid video looks funny but the source file from the camera looks the same. Nothing I can do about it. Sorry

The mpeg-files won't play in QuickTime Player but they work fine with Win Media Player

Nice videos...

The NVS did not look impressive to me at all. Maybe it was the drilling or the lane conditions, but it seemed to me the Gamebreaker finished better.

k-lite codec pack.

You probably don't have the right codecs (it is an avi file).

That's the nature of .avi files versus .mpg files... It's like comparing a .tiff file to a .jpg file.  .tiff files and .avi files are huge compared to their "compressed" counterparts.

Does anyone know what sort of synthetic lanes those are?  The area around 2nd arrow is slightly darker and it has that weird splice that you might see in a wood house with maple heads and pine down lane...

Sorry you guys had trouble with the videos. As I said I'm no wizard and I just made them the best I could. I have found out you need div-x to view the avi-files. The files are between 22 and 74 mb in size.

This particular condition didn't make the NVS look good at all. There were out of bounds from 6 or 7 and out so we had to use inside lines. We originally wanted to use break points further to the right and go more direct. The pattern wouldn’t allow that and it broke down extremely fast. The severe break down is also why you see the Bash move so much in the last video.

The lanes we bowl on are Kegel Edge (synthetic). They are made to look like old wooden lanes.

For those interested the layouts on my balls (guy in black No Limit shirt) are:
Symmetrical balls 5½" pin to pap and CG at 70 degrees, no x-hole
Asymmetrical ball 5½" pin to pap and MB at 45 degrees no x-hole
You can find pics of the balls here http://internationalbowler.spaces.live.com/photos/cns!6FE5C1BB622E906A!108/

I think that is a better way to make a video then on an easy THS, when you missed you saw what happens when you miss. Some other videos I have seen when people spray the ball all over the lane, they all still hit the pocket, I think all test videos should be on a demanding condition. Just my .02cents

Michael,

What was your impression of the balls?  Which was your favorite?

NVS - A really strong ball. Earlier than the Total NV and more even on the backend. I actually like this ball better than the Total because it is more controllable. It is good (but not great) and I use it but I cannot use it for more than a game or so.

Raid - I really like this piece. It gives me length and strong but still controllable backend. I can use it on a lot of different conditions.

Gamebreaker - I really like this one also. Strong midlane and continious backend. It's great on the fresh and it handles the break down fairly well. When it begins to check up on the backend it's time to switch to the Raid

Clash - I still haven't figured this one out. Very over/under. I usually like this core (Crossfire and Whirl Wind) and I was looking forward to see it wrapped in a stronger cover. I guess I have to play with the surface but with the other balls being so good I haven't found the need to.

Bash - Another great ball. I like how this one reads spotty midlanes and keeps going on the backend.

The Gamebreaker, Raid and Bash is for me a near perfect line up for most normal conditions. Even though I bring 8 balls with me to competitions those three balls are usually the ones I end up using.
