Warrior Elite or????
« on: March 24, 2017, 10:30:33 PM »
Thinking of picking up a Warrior Elite on closeout. Looking for comments on the Warrior Elite and/or comparisons to the Maverick/Maverick Pearl.
Thanks in advance.

I think the Warrior Elite and Maverick actually have somewhat comparable motions. At least from what I've seen and my (limited) experience with the two balls. The amount of oil both handle should be fairly close too. Both are really nice balls though. If you have a chance at getting a Warrior Elite on closeout I would go for it.

Not sure about how the Maverick Pearl compares. Haven't really seen it much or heard anything about it.

I have the Elite.  Mine is 14 lbs., drilled with the pin about 4.5" from the pap and 1/2 to 1" over the ring finger.  With my slower speed this is a monster.  Unless there is a lot of oil, I can't use it for more than a game.  I did change the surface to 4000 with hand polish and now I can get more use from the ball.  But it still hooks a lot.  It should be real good for someone with more speed and on oily conditions.

Hope this helps.

It would be less overall and Smoother than the Maverick and probably earlier and Smoother than Maverick Pearl.

I have had a few of them. They were all very good.

Pin down was SMOOTH and control allowed to get closer to the friction but was still easy to bump in with during transition. Pin up obviously had more flip still would say it is smooth rolling. Covered plenty of boards. Kept pins low on the deck even with my higher ball speed.

Good ball overall if you keep it off of true dry it will work very well. Versatile.

Warrior Elite is a very good ball. IMO the best of the 3. The Maverick will be stronger earlier and smoother. The Maverick Pearl will be longer stronger and more angular. SO in all reality you have 3 different motions with the options. I would pick the one that is best for you. Can't go wrong with any of them.

My team mate has a Warrior Elite. That is one strong-ass ball! Too strong for a medium house shot without surface changes,..... as he soon found out. He can only really use it successfully for one game before being forced in too deep.

When the ball hits the pocket, it literally obliterates the pins, but unless you're on heavy oil you will have a hard time getting it there.

One of the pro shop guys throws a Maverick and he loves it. I think its down lane motion is kind of funky, so I'm not really fond of it from what I've seen, but each to his own. You may like it.

Eh.. you sure about that? The Maverick is pretty clean and very strong off the spot. I don't think the generalities of a strong, solid asymmetrical apply as much with that ball.

Mainzer said it well. The Warrior Elite is less overall and smoother than the Maverick. I threw one with a pin up layout and it still had some pop on the backend but not as much as the Maverick.

I was going to ask about the seemingly contradictory feedback also... :) Of course, everything reacts different for everybody, so all feedback appreciated... I have the same tendency many of us have to go for hook in a box, and am learning just how wrong that is... Beginning to sound like both of these are heavy oilers that might be Nats choices more so than league.... Our THS is medium at best, even the left side....
