I love Ebonite's equipment. I will go as far to say they are the best in the world. But why do they have to be whores? Must they have to release 5 balls a month? Promote a ball and stick with it. Brunswick learned the hard way releasing too many balls at a time. They are concentrating on a few at a time and promoting them. But Ebonite has so many Vortex 2's it's insane. Why the "2"? Cause of the origial sucess with the V2 they have to beat the name to death with balls that only have extremly slight differences? What happened to the late 90's when they promoted balls? Why do they take a name, then beat it to death with sub-genre names? They have too many balls that are too similar to other ones they already have!

Are we seriously complaining about companies releasing too much equipment at a time? I could see complaining if all the new releases were really low quality or something but come on...don't we have something better to grumble about?

My personal preference is a longer availability for the ball.  by the time you've put the ball thru a reasonable number of conditions (within the parameters of use meant by the manufacturer), the ball is usually not being made anymore.  for example, I got an obsession 2nd hand after trying it for about 2 months I'd decided it would be worth to make it the basis of a 3 ball arsenal for hi volume/long oil patterns. When I called the country distributor, he told me the ball had been discontinued. (I was able to get another one but at 15 lbs, I throw 16, so sometimes on heavy oil, I go thru the breakpoint I want)  And that ball X is so much better than than ball..

which brings me to my 2nd comment... ok Ball 2 is so much better than ball one, but by how much..

But I guess this belong to another thread, and not limited to any one ball company.

People, as a Pro Shop operator, we know a little in advance when a ball (or balls) is being dropped from the lineup. That is when a good operator marks down the old ball to make room for the new one. Don't wait until the new stuff shows up, start thinning out the old right away. Ebonite IS NOT the only company to release several balls at once. Personally I like to see several balls come in at once, instead of one ball every 2-3 weeks.
