Something Stronger..
« on: December 11, 2007, 02:25:37 AM »
I am using my Brunswick BVP Rampage at the moment as my primary ball. I was looking to try Ebonite and wanted something that can play almost any condition, and have a skid/snap motion. i throw the ball around 13-15 MPH, and i have rev (not as much as Robert Smith, but i have some! haha). what do you think is a good choice?

i can agree he does think pretty highly of himself, but i mean he is a very very smart person when it comes to bowling and he is an excellent bowler, he averaged what, 240-250 last year...i mean by no means is he terrible...

but i guess thats your opinion we all have them...

on topic again, the resurgence is still way stronger than the gb...

Have you considered the Rival? I have one and it hooks more than the NVS, Black Widow Solid and Gamebreaker. I do not have a Resurgence but from what I read the Rival hooks 3-5 boards less. The Rival gets down the lane very easily and recovers very well. It's a pretty inexpensive ball. You can get in on Bowlingball.com and with their discount ($15 - code xmas15) and Ebill's discount ($15)for less $85. To qualify for both discount your total purchase must total to atleast $115.

I myself, also have the NVS, Rival, & Resurgence. As far as the Rival goes, it plays the lane wayyyyy more smoother than the NVS does. The Rival has been my go to ball in my PBA league. My NVS has been an over/under ball for me. If you get the right drilling for the Rival, you can't go wrong. It's Chris Barnes 80%.

The Raid is the best choice, here.  It has a skid/snap type of reaction.  It is a step under the Resurgence. It is a step above the Rampage.  It can be used on medium light to medium heavy conditions depending on surface prep.  The only other way you could go is maybe a Gamebreaker and and add Factory Finish to it.  But, the Raid will not disappoint you for what you are looking for.

I have the gamebreaker and it's not a skid/flip ball. The rival or the black widow solid are two better choices. I have all three balls and the black widow has the best skid/flip reaction between the three. The rival is little stronger than the black widow and not as flippy but is a great ball to be under the resurgence. Its Chris Barnes 80 percenter!

Raid would probably be your best options, maybe even an Angular One. I currently have all three of these balls and they complement each other very well.  Raid would give you a more arcy motion that would be good for heavier stuff, while the Angular one would have a similar look to you rampage but with a much stronger skid/snap move on the backend.
