whats with ebi?
« on: August 08, 2017, 09:43:34 AM »
not trying to bash the ebi brands, but there new stuff just came out today, and i've already seen their next batch of balls. it's like there throwing shit against a wall seeing what stick! it's actually annoying as a guy that helps out in my local pro shop, which is ebi based, when people come in and ask for a ball recomendation, i couldnt even tell em whats out right now because their just releasing ball after ball! not trying to pick on ebi bc i know brunswick/dv8 released 12 new balls recently, but damn y so many new balls!

As has already been said, you cannot look at all the companies under the EBI banner the same.  Prior to putting out the Kinetic Ruby this past month, Track put the Kinetic Emerald out in February.  That is a very very very long time between releases in this industry.

The more i look at it the more i think Motiv is doing it right by releasing a ball every 45 days.

I'm as big a fan of Motiv as anyone, but some of their releases just leave me scratching my head.

Yeah they're doing some odd things recently, plus there's a lot of hit and miss with how good they are.  They still own some of the best releases of the decade with the Sigma Tour, Tribal, Covert Revolt, and Venom Shock, but their quality has dipped over the last couple years.

The number of releases hasn't changed just peoples memories.

Every brand this time of year launches new releases across almost every line.

Example: Entry level, mid performance, upper performance, and a high performance ball.

This has been going on for years. The only difference this years is EBI staggered the releases slightly. So instead of 4 balls for each brand all at once you are getting 2 per brand staggered prior to league starting back. (2 per brand at bowl expo time and then 2 more just before league in August.)

Before anyone forgets you will see more from each manufacture coming around late September into October prior to Christmas....then again in the new year prior to Nationals. Same cycles as always.

No one remember in the late 90s when Ebonite alone released a 8 or 9 ball pack to start the season with the 2-3 Stinger balls, 2-3 Wave series, and 2-3 Cat series? Not including the high performance ball being the Wolf release.

^^Agreed. What I don't understand is what are they thinking sending out brochures a month ago to pro shops with all the new fall releases that STILL haven't been announced. And today, some of those in the brochure such as the Lit, Logix, and Affinity all hit the approved list. And they still haven't done info release. So most people I talk to already know about them and they are somewhat "old news".

Not sure. The Logix and Affinity look pretty good along with the new Mako. Still new to most bowlers who have no idea there's more to come.
