When will Ebonite learn

Take the Phased Bomber reactive coverstock(a verstile coverstock that has longetivity as the Overtime proved) and rap it around the V2 core and make another ball for the generations. The Smash(although good) doesn't quite get there. IMHO.

Juggernaut,

My point was not a criticism of Ebonite or the GB covers as I have primarily thrown Ebonite for 25 years(also have a Big One that still performs fairly well on the right condition with several hundred games on it) But just take that great V2 core and wrap a tried and true reactive coverstock around it. Much like Brunswick continues to use PK18 on some of their equipment. Every manufacturer needs a workhorse.

I understand, and didn't mean to mislead your thread. Ebonite used to be high on my list as well, but got away from the durability and performance I had grown accustomed to from them. They started to lose me when they went through their "Big Daddy, Mac Daddy, Big Wheel, Big Bang" and all their "modified" versions. You couldn't keep up with which ball had which cover in which formulation, with or without particles.

Throw in their "BOMBS AWAY" technology, and it was simply too much for many to try to keep up with.

In my opinion, while the Phased Bomber was good, about the last GREAT cover they had was TRIMAX. It could cover a wide variety of conditions, worked well with many different weightblocks at many different surface finishes, and had enough durability to last for two-three seasons or longer if maintained properly.

Had an Overtime and I understand what you say, it was a good, strong, reliable piece. But it was about the last one I had that I liked.

Like I said, put the ICE cover on that V2 weightblock ( in essence a V2 pearl, even though the ICE was supposed to be solid), name it whatever you want, and you'll have your workhorse, one that will be dependable for quite a while.

I can appreciate your desire for a good, reliable cover on that weightblock, as I had a Gamebreaker and was hoping that was what IT would be. Gamebreaker was good, but not like the TRIMAX was, at least for me.

I know it's a cover from Hammer but my dream ball would be the V2 core inside the Cut Throat cover.

Roger,

You're being far too realistic. Such a good ball would last and last, and be a benchmark for a long time. Cutthroat is too much like PK 18 to be a real consideration for modern products.

I know. A guy could get a CT with a V2 core and probably be the last ball they'd buy for 5-10 years, but I can dream can't I ?

The Hawg I have still kicks  when I toss it right. Not the ball's fault I can't bowl worth beans !
