The Pinslasher is not a suitable replacement, It's a good piece, but it doesn't have that smooth ball reaction that makes it so incredible. Oh well, time to stock up I guess.

But it doesn't roll the same. The Pin slasher is close, but imo the gamebreaker is the better ball. It the easiest ball to read that I've ever thrown. Its always with me

I wish they would rethink the discontinue of this beast of a ball. the only positive is that there are rumors of great things coming in the summer (RUMORS not fact), so dont quote me.

There has been a Breaker in my bag since they were released.
And I know Joe Jr is seriously thinking of quitting if he cant throw them anymore. lol. funny but true.
A Breaker/V2 core with the Flexol cover would be cool tho.

My 2 cents:
Due to the start of the success of the Magic and the continuing complaints about the oil absorbancy of their current coverstocks, I suspect you will be seeing a lot of changes in the coverstocks of all their premium balls. I also believe you'll see it happening in the other Ebonite-owned brands.
By the way, it makes no difference if none of your personal Ebonite or Hammer balls have ever "died" or lost performance. I believe Ebonite has seen far too many reports of performance loss, whether warranted or not, whether the owners clean them or not, to allow them to continue using the resins that absorb oil at very high rates.
If small companies, like Lanemasters and Visionary, can do this, I'm sure a large company like Ebonite can also do it.
FWIW ball cleaning is part of my bowling "religion" and I preach to everyone who will listen.

It was disappointed to hear that they were getting rid of them. I have had 8 since being on staff. But hopefully they will rerelease it just under a diffrent name.

i dont think oil absorption is a problem with their brands just the ebonite brand. i dont really have experience with hammer but every columbia ball i have had does soak up oil much at all. i have the rival arch rival dead flush power drive pearl dr jekyll jazz and noize. as long as you keep them clean they could probably go 100 games without rejuvenation

cheech,
As I tried to imply, the problem is not your own personal perception, but the complaints that people in general have made against Ebonite balls.

Charlest, makes great points about this topic. I've had great success using Hammer products and have no problem giving them hot water baths to xtract the oil but we hear it time and time again about how Ebonite equipment dies too quick. That's a bad rap to have for a ball company wether its true or false.
I feel Ebonite should take a look at what Roto Grip has done with the cell line. The coverstock on the Cell was designed to last longer. That's where the technology is headed. I'm sure Ebonite will jump on the bandwagon and do as Charlest has said. It time to change things.
-
chitown,
I'm not trying to force Ebonite to do as I say. I meant I strongly suspect they are following this 'road' now.

I have 3 of the V2s so I decided to get a GB about 6 months ago. The cover burnt up too fast and I got rid of it. IMO the V2 is the way to go.
