I skipped out on the cyclone and got the TurboR instead. I am very impressed with this entry level ball. It's my first Ebonite since the V2's, so it's been a very long while.

The TurboR is so clean and doesn't jump off the dry that drastic. I can play anywhere on the lanes the pattern and my ability allows me to with this ball. I normally don't shoot high scores with NIB with their OOB covers, especially with entry level balls. I almost always take my NIB's to the spinner before even touching the lanes. But this ball just took to the lanes easy.

This OOB cover just matched up right away on this long medium/low volume high friction THS. Likewise, I normally don't post about balls I recently bought, especially not after three games. But for a ball in the entry level, with it's OOB cover, and cheap price tag.... I have to say that this ball is great!

Finally, this ball is great for THS on some fresh and when pattern breaks down. Great for the newbies to the experienced bowlers. Nice eye candy in its color scheme and from what I"ve read, it has a proven coverstock. The very shinny cover fooled me. Overall, a wonderful ball to throw. Nothing fancy, just scores. Makes me wonder what I missed out over the 13 years not getting Ebonite in the bag for so long.

Edit: Oh, I actually didn't know what I was getting into with this ball over the cyclone, but the reason why I got it.... I used to own a Turbo 96' version... I wasn't bowling any leagues, just for fun with beer drinking friends.

Given the way your release seems to create extra backend, I suspect you're better off with the milder cored (and slightly milder coverstocked) Turbo than the stronger cored Cyclone.

I am in a similar boat, but knowing the core of the Cyclone, I used a pin in the middle finger drilling on my Cyclone to create a more controlled reaction. I bought the Cyclone long before the intro of the Turbo, actually when the Cyclone first came out.

Throwing a pearl that doesn't go sideways very quickly is refreshing.

It's good to know your cyclone is controllable with the pin drilled out. Pin drilled out kinda gives me that "control drill" too, but it's been a while since I had a ball drilled that way. And I actually thought about using that drill on the TurboR...

Maybe I should try the cyclone one day.....

FYI Because the pin is drilled out  into the MIDDLE finger (not the ring), this ball was best for me, dulled to 2000 grit and used on a flatter sports type pattern, that was in the medium+ to medium-heavy range. It also allowed me to play straighter.

When I polished it and used on lighter patterns, it didn't have enough backend to carry decently. I'm betting that, like you, I'd be better of using the Turbo for less than true medium oil.

Ops, I mentally assumed it was the “ring finger”... kinda read it like IKEA assembly instruction, Leaving extra screws out lol.. my fault, I meant to say ring finger...I’ve never tried the pin drilled out from the MF. Sounds interesting..

The house I Bowl first and second shift is much drier, or dries up rather quickly.. the plan with the turbo was to have something that stays in front of me longer and a bit stronger than the breeze. So far so good..

The cyclone and turbo may be a good THS league arsenal for me.

The specs of the Turbo/R remind me of the Track Tundra (another EBI sleeper gem) which is my non-flippy pearl of choice at the moment.  I see way too many house hacks go face because dudes love the back end.  Sometimes, you just have to realize less is more.

Yup, unless you're speed dominant or have lots of ball speed, dry or light oil usually have  a very long, dry backend (20 - 25 feet)  that provides all the backend you need. Some mild balls have a ton of backend and make playing the dry a hit or miss proposition for matched or rev dominant players.

Numbers are also similar to the Columbia Deep Freeze.  My favorite ball at the moment due to having success both on house shot as well as the USBC Tournament.  I shot 1370 in minors at El Paso with the DF.  The Turbo/R is definitely on my radar right now.

Affinity is one great ball.  A true skid snap med to light oil ball. Very happy with it so far.

I did a pin under bridge which approx 4.25" pin-pap.
took it to 500 + polish.
It has a great predictable, not to snappy arcing motion
Still get through the heads quite nicely.

Just picked out the Logix and have a couple game son it, Woza on the motion of this piece. Stronger arcing motion than the Affinity, same layout, doesnt look the asymmetric pieces of old to me.
