Does anyone have any data as to the cover difference on these. Is it a different particle or is the Xcel a medium load and the XXcel a light load? I would like to bring up a NIB Xcel to 1000 and was wondering how close the reaction might be to the XXcel.

From my experience the cover on the Xcel is much stronger. I have both balls withe the same layouts and the Xcel is much earlier and a more even at the breakpoint than the XXcel (same surface prep).

you most likely will not get a similar reaction because the cores are different. not by much, but enough to change the characteristics of the ball.

I have a Xxcel and I got it NIB with a 1000 grit polish. As far as I can tell, the coverstock is very stong on medium to medium-oily conditions, but on a fresh long shot the polish has not enough grip. It is not the heavy oil ball I thought it would be. I suppose a matte 1000 or 800 grit finish will let it handle more oil well, and I am not sure where the XXcel might fit, especially with the Xcel Particle on top?
Besides, from the core pictures Ebonite has shown, both Xxcel and XXxcel seem to have the same Scalien core with additional flip nuggets, but the picture seems only to be taken from different angles?

The core on the xxxcel is turned 90 degrees. This is why the ball rolls differently and flares quite a bit more.

It depends on what gaps u need to fill, and the different type of conditions you play on.
Each ball has its advantages for me. If u drill each ball within its own characteristics, then I'd say xxcel and xxxcel would be good. I think the xcel is a great ball, but unless u drilled it completely different than the other 2, you really won't need it.
