why is it that every ball i buy dies right after i feel confident with it. I just got the big one and i loved it for 9 games, after that the hookk and recovery died the carry went by by and so did my dreams of finally making a wothwhile purchase in a ball i have cleaned it even took it back to the proshop to have it scuffed and stillnothing like those first 9 games , I know its me ,but i dont know why or what ,every body who has this ball loves it and so did i , just crying in the woods .

Make sure you keep it clean and bring it to it's original state as often as posible.
There should be NO WAY it should lose it's reaction by 9 games though.
It's very important that you keep up with that surface.
Good luck!

I dont have the BIG One but I have The ONE. Its got over 70 games on it and its still a good hook monster and i have never cleaned it yet. I will admit though, the 1st 9-12 games it was a beast with hooking off the house, it has tamed down about 10 boards but its still my biggest hooking ball yet.

i clean mine with hook it while i was bowling with it last night .the shot was pretty good oil volume for second shift. first ball i picked up was my assassin polished at 4000 grit and the ball was moving like money. I noticed the oil and said ok now is a good time to see what this thing will do. Picked up the big one and it slid 60 feet. so i cleaned it , it slid 60 feet ,now mind u i was playing 30 to 10 with the assassin and i was moving left 3 boards a shot with the big one and the ball wouldnt face up . I then cleaned it with hook it and a green scotch pad the ball started to face up ,but i couldnt carry, and this is from 22 to 15 in the oil the same oil i was playing the assassin 10 boards left with. as the oil broke down the ball got better ,but shouldnt that have been just the opposite. I have to hit up on the ball so hard to get it to finish it is rediculous. also used my phenom unleashed on the sam shot and i had stopped bowling with it because of 10 pins(lol),but even it out hooked and carried my big one until i started hiiting the ball at the botom . But thats not my game i am a roller never learned how to hit the ball and rev it i am a high track low speed low rev bowler who relies on the ball i am useing to make up for my weaknesses. What i saw last night was a ball that demands high revs and speed .I also noticed no flaring on the ball when it came back there was a solid glob of oil in one spot like the ball slid down the lane all the way on this one point. 4 inches long and about 2 inches wide

I also have a BIG ONE, and have seen the same thing. However, mine tamed down, "evened out" if you will after about 12-15 games. I actually prefer it this way. It is still strong, and is much more predictable. I have definitely moved right, but it still is more than anything else I owned and I am doing well with it.

All the new balls are sponges. There is no USBC rule on oil absorption rate (yet). Keep it clean, clean, clean, clean.
Although 9 games unless you are bowling on a flood that is unheard of in my area and I have never even heard of a ball dying after 9 games. MEllowing a bit I could understand buy a 2000 and 4000 abralon pad to keep the surfac fresh.

I have balls for 3 to 5 years...do virtually nothing to them and they keep on hooking.
Everyone once in a while I'll sand down low(say 600 and then bring up ) and repolish...once a year?? Maybe.
Once on a ball with about 2000 games I baked it! Hooks!
9 games?

i think cleaning it so much clogs the pores of the ball.. just let it be.

I probally have 20+ games on my big one and it has tamed down. I am wondering if I should take it down to green pad then take it back up to oob or, stop cleaning it so much? I wipe my ball off after every shot and clean it after every set with clean and dull. I am maybe wondering if cleaning the big One might have an adverse effect?

I just bought a XXcel that hooked at my feet the first few times I used it. After 8-9 games it finally started to calm down and go down the lane like it is supposed to. I now am getting the type of movement that it should have for the bulk of it's life. I don't think any ball I've ever had maintained the level of hook it had OOB through it's whole usable life. The Rock On i got didn't hook when it was new. After 6-7 games it turned into the ball I consider my alltime favorite. I doubt your Big One is dead, it has just settled in to what it will be from now on.
