Ok, quick review:
Pin halfway drilled through with the ring finger, x-hole inside of the VAL. Brunswick synthetics, 42ft house shot(oiled to 34, 8 foot buff, very sharp backends).
This particular house gives me trouble when they're fresh because it's literally an Exxon Valdez flood up front, with backends and outside of 7 being as dry as the sahara desert. Usually I catch over under for my first 10-12 shots until we start breaking them down a little.
Compared to my other equipment, I don't really notice anything spectacular out of the Alien. It reminds me alot of the Classic Zone. It does give the read of Activator coverstock. It blended the transition from wet-dry while swinging the lane better than some of my other balls(Sahara, Rebound), and it did give a nice hard arc which I like, I'm not too fond of flippier equipment. I was 3-4 boards right with the Alien compared to my Absolute to get it back to the pocket. It gave me 5 inches of flare in the oil and with this much flare early, it made the ball very smooth in the back. Carry.....I don't even think that's relevant to talk about, every ball finishes well nowadays when you get it in the pocket.
To me this was just another ball that on a house shot gives you the same result as everything else, stand left, throw right, miss either which way and still pound the hole. I just didn't notice anything different for me to say this ball is better than ball-x or this ball is worse than ball-x. The Elite Alien is very readable I'd say and you can tell that the cover is an activator derivative from the way it makes it's move from the wet to the dry and back. This is more of a control ball for me and will probaly be more of a first ball out of the bag for me just to play the track with.
