This thing flat out hooks!

I drilled mine 4x4 with a hole down on the val. This put the pin slightly below and to the right of my ring finger.

The normal house condition I bowl on is 43' and this ball gets into a roll real early and keeps going. It is flat out too strong for this condition in box finish.

I've thrown most everything out there and this is the strongest I've seen. I let a guy throw it who was throwing the EPX T1 and it was far and away stronger.

It won't be a ball I can throw everyday, but I won't go anywhere without it.

There is only review for this ball so far and it is pretty accurate at that... This freaking ball hooks like a monster!!! I am sorta a simi- cranker/tweener, and this is the strongest hook I have just about ever seen out of a bowling ball!! I am right handed and I drilled this ball somewhat diff... I placed the pin under the middle finger which would be on the negative position and just slightly off the center of grip to the left but not much at all. Dont have much finger and much side weight in this ball-being pretty much st8 up.

I would like to add... Most payers will have to work on this coverstock before even taking this ball to the lanes... This ball looks like it was sanded with 320 dry, and I mean its that bad! The lines in this ball or so heavy I had to start with 400 and work my way up to get it shiny.. I never even threw this ball dull simply cause I didnt think I needed it! I am not sure why they made this ball so dull cause u wont see lane conditions for the surface they provide!

The looks of this ball is very nice however, some of the pictures seen,u cant really tell that it has many colors. Mine came with alot of white in it and polished it looked fabulous!!!

My first 3 games with it was on a late league and the lanes where kinda dry. First couple shots had me thinking holy hell this thing hooks! So I finally move deep enough in practice. I ended up playing from 25 to about 8-9 at breakpoint. I was worried this ball might burn up being I ha my pin under middle finger and also being playing so deep and covering so many boards but let me tell u this ball does everything but burnup! I would say that maybe it would burnup without being polished  but shiny u could throw it in the parking lot and I dont think it would burn up! I shot 743 my 1st 3 games ever with this ball. I am just so amazed at the performance and the hitting power this ball provides! I had the whole bowling alley watching me throw this ball and it was simply just pounding the pocket! I did leave a couple 4 pins and I hink that was cause of the extreme angle it was making to the pocket!

The only bad thing about this ball is the hook in fact! Any players with slow ball speed and alot of revs wont be able to throw this ball even on the slickest conditions. To tell u the truth I dont see anybody on tour throwing this ball unless it was very shiny and even then I just dont see many throwing it. It is a shark ball however but I dont think they have the volume of oil needed for this ball to react good on any of the patterns. This ball would be fantastic for all strockers and this ball would be super for maybe all players wishing to wheel a house condition but for a regional player looking to try this ball on a couple patterns, well I just dont see it happening. If you are looking for a ball to rpovide maximum hook/hitting power then dont worry about spending this high dollar $ on a ball because you will get what the spec tells you and so much more! Elite is making some wonderful products and yeah I know the prices are outragous but for the performance they bring it makes the walle feel much better! Some of you that want to try an elite bowling ball but maybe not one of these then should definitly try the R43 just because it is so versatile to many styles! Just dont be affraid to try at least one ball from Elite because a couple more years and Elite will be the #1 ball company on the market. Storm, watchout! Thanks John Davis

I recently bought one of these in a two for one deal that Elite was offering.  I was hoping the hook potential was as advertised because I needed something to play inside the 20 bd.  I have succeess everywhere from the channel to about 20, but then my equipment starts to lose the energy needed to carry.  I'm a cranker/tweener with med.-high speed and revs who can usually hit his mark consistently.  What I don't like doing is throwing the ball 13 mph on flooded conditions in order to get the ball off the corner with any kind of hitting power. So I was really hoping this ball would allow me to keep my speed up when I was forced to play deep on heavily oiled conditions.  It did.

I punched this one up with Elite's recommended 3 3/8" Leverage layout.  I left it in out of box, 320? 400?, I'm not sure, but dull to say the least.  I was throwing on the second oiliest PBA Senior Regional #? (can't remember which #).  I was throwing about 17mph using 20-22 at the arrows out to a juicy 7-8 break point.  The ball never made it to the break point, burning up halfway down the lane and rolling out every time.  Just way too strong in out of box for these conditions  So, undeterred, back to the pro shop I went where I took the surface to 2000 w/no polish.  Now the ball began to retain some energy through the middle and had a much improved move off the break point, with added hitting power.  It was still rolling out a little bit and leaving flat tens on this condition, but the 2000 no polish surface would probably match up perfect on something even oilier.  So again, it was back to the pro-shop where I took it to 4000 with some polish.  Once I applied a little shine, oh my, this Shark started to hunt.  Now the ball was retaining all of it's energy in a beautiful, heavy rolling arc that culminated in a controlled, yet violent move off the break point.  The pin carry was equally powerful, with what seemed like a lot of help tripping out those late 4 pins and 4,7,10 combos. As long as my delivery and targeting were there, this ball did everything I asked it to without any strange hiccups or uncharacteristic ball roll.  It was steady, responsive to hand position changes and controllable if thrown with a little skill.  Oh, and by the way, did I mention that THIS THING HOOKS?  It does...at your feet, if you're not careful!

Now, having sung the praises of the Shark, I feel compelled to indicate that I don't think this is a ball for your average league bowler.  Perhaps something a little less aggressive in the Elite line would be the way to go in that situation.  Because this ball is designed for extreme oil, it is much better suited to those of us who take this game seriously and have developed the skill and desire needed to play those flooded sport conditions that can turn the strongest equipment into a White Dot.  In these cases, where you need something to hook at your feet,  this really might be it.  I compete regularly in tournaments where once carry down becomes a factor, we often struggle opening up even a small area on lengthy, tight conditions.  This ball eats carry down with glee and could be the answer many of us are looking for.  I know I may not always have to use it, but I won't go anywhere without it.

I've had this ball for a few months now. I used it through the majority of my summer league (which was a rotational league, meaning we changed lanes for each of our four games).

This ball was phenomenal, to say the least. The league was on synthetics, and I have it drilled left handed using the medium strength drill pattern recommended by Elite. So far, I've used it on just about any oil pattern, from baked to soaked.

The other reviewers are dead on: this thing eats carry-down for breakfast.

As a smooth-throwing stroker, I've never been able to cross as many boards as I can with this thing. I prefer the down and in shot, and my Sahara is perfect for that, but when the carry-down causes the Sahara to squirt past the breakpoint, I turn to the Shark, move 5-10 boards right, throw the same spot, and watch the fun. This thing, even when I come out the back of it, starts down the lane smoothly and then snaps like nothing else in the back. The carry is unbelievable just because of the sheer inertia it has going when it hits.

Overall, I've very impressed with this ball. Kudos to Elite.

I've gotten a lot of comments about it, and all of them have been favorable. My opponents usually remark about it before I throw it "Oh, you've got a shark, huh?" And then they see me lay it down the lane, and their tune completely changes.

It's great.

Recommended to anyone with the resources to get it. It's worth at least two other bowling balls, in my opinion. I've never had a ball open up a lane for a stroker like this one (and I shoot the Colossus Supreme!).

Thanks,

~D

For bowlers like me (stroker),the Shark is what you've been dreaming about. This ball hooks on conditions I couldn't get a wrinkle. Smooth long arcing reaction that won't quit. Has Versable cover for those who hook it. And is a must have ball for those that don't.

The shark is an awesome ball.. I am a RH semi cranker (14-16mph) throwing  between the 2nd and 3rd arrrow.. You talking about hook!!! This ball is a monster... I have improved my scores about 10-15 pins throwing this ball on the first game.. i almost shot my first 700 scratch with it last week.. Just remember to either adjust one the lane brakes down or switch balls.. if theres no oil you will split or leave 10s the rest of the nite.

If you want a ball for heavy oil this ball is a must buy. It is well worth the money. I have never thrown a dull ball that hooks, and hits like this one, and i have been bowling for over 25 years. I'm a tweener bowling on a 41ft 1.2/1 sport shot, and this ball creates area on it like you would not believe. On the house top hat shot, i throw my R-43 and love it.

What a ball, first set out of the box shot 691 on pattern 5. Everyone else in my scratch league was struggling to shot 640. This ball rolls up amazing on heavy oil. I would have shot a good seven but missed to 7 pins in 9 and 10 frame of the last game. If you want a ball for oil I stongly recommed this ball.

This is the best ball I've purchased and I've been bowling competitive for 20 years. I'm not a cranker and with this ball I don't have to be. It hits hard in the pocket and the pins just explode. I averaged 205 thru 3 quarters last year and since then for 13 weeks I've averaged 219 with a series high of 772 and my first 300 last week. Great price for the best ball going today.

I was able to get this at a good price and since i like my green alien so much i thought i would try one. I am a speed dominant stroker and bowl 3 leagues a week on synthetics, i usually throw feet at 20 cross arrows at 8 -10 and swing it out to 4-5. The shark was new in box with 3.5" pin and 3.0 oz top wt. it is drilled pin above ring finger and the cg swung out to the right ( 45 deg. layout). This ball is very strong and my normal shot with my g-force as just descibed, the shark is much stronger. I had to move 5 boards left with my feet and 2 boards left at the arrows and project it further down the lane which is good. The ball in this layout has a strong late midlane arch that gets much stronger off the end of the pattern. In practice on a flood i was able to move way inside ( for me ) and throw feet at 20, ball crossing 13-14 at the arrows with a pretty much up and in shot, it would come off the end of the pattern and move strong thu pin deck, so now i have several lines i can throw and on many differant conditions. For a stroker like me this ball is a true winner for heavy and/or long conditions or just for swinging it out on league shot, worth every single penny.

The shark is an awesome and hard hitting ball..I just purchase this ball for a 50% discount on PBA 50th aniv. sale. Man this ball is awesome..no light hits..It eats up oil in the lane and when it hits the pocket its like a grenade exploding and hitting the pins...Out of the box I bowled my first 700 series (750).This ball is a monster in the pocket..its like a tornado hitting the pins. Just remember you need more speed on this ball.... I recommend this ball for high speed  bowlers ...good ball Elite..

I have been using my shark for about a year now and it needs oil and alot of it.  You won't be using this ball on any league shot.  That being said I love this ball.  I have used it in several tournaments and in my sport shot leagues.
I have found it to be more versatile than I expected.  I have sanded it to 180 grit and been able to play a shot noone else could play and as it eats the oil it leaves a trough for me to play and opens up the lane. I have also polished it to 3000 and been able to get through the heads and snap like a beast on the back end.

I just purchased this ball on Thanksgiving and got it punched this past Friday. I have it drilled with the peak performance pattern from the Elite Bowling website. I haven't got to throw it during and league or tournament yet, but I have got to practice with it. This ball is strong and comes back like none other. I've shot only 2 games under 220 with it. I will be updating this review when I get to throw it on my Tuesday night league and after December 13 when I go to an SSJBA Tour stop. I am very satisfied with this ball as of right now. It's AWESOME!
