Seriously considering Elite - Feedback?
« on: August 30, 2012, 04:50:05 PM »
I just came across a decent sale price on the black alien and the fugitive, both of which have specs that work best for my low rate, slow speed left-hand style. I'm tempted to try one or both, but there seems to be extremely little activity in this forum, and not much information on anyone rolling Elite. If anyone has information on the black alien or the fugitive, I would love to hear about it since I'm thinking of picking one up very soon.

Thanks in advance

Good to know, thanks for the input! I really liked the move it made in the videos. Even though I'm low rev lefty and don't pay attention to a lot of videos due to their right handed coast-to-coast similarity, I watched Curlie's reaction in one video and it was pretty good for a low rev release.

On a side note, I wish more companies would show the low rev reality... Of course, if they do, I'm always available...   :)

I have the elite sabatoge and love it.  I am a lefty who plays with lower revs and ball speed.  But with that being said, i have my ball drilled for a skid snap and love it.  I can play on oily to dry lanes.
I am thinking of getting the red alien as a bigger hook ball.

Just my 2 cents, but any ball can be good for you as long as you get it drilled to do what you want and dont try to make it do something else!!

of course everyone has different opinions. But i personally have thrown elite and i find that the equipment was rather weak compared to other companies. I was limited as to where and when i could use the ball. I also found the equipment to be tremendously over priced. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. but not a single person in the world is the same, so i will let you be the judge of that

I totally agree with ya.  have been a Brunswick guy since i started bowling seriously.  Not that the other companies equipment was bad, but it matched up better for my game.

I would recommend a more popular company. storm, roto grip, track, ebonite, columbia, hammer, brunswick, or DV8. nothing against other companies, but these are the dominant bowling companies. Their equipment is very well liked and loved by many people. if you want strong and snappy, storm and roto grip. if you want complete power, DV8 hell raiser lineup. If you want smooth roll, ebonite and columbia. if you want a smooth skid/flip motion, track or hammer.

The originals were I believe made at Global and I have a shark, very strong cover and core, needs lots of head oil and soft hand was plenty.
I have an Orion, bought from Paradise on sale, also strong back end and will work on lighter oil, has the red Alien core.
Red Alien is very strong like the shark and even with soft hands, probably too strong for most league conditions, at least it is for me and I have low revs.
Of the three, the Orion is the most versatile in my game, speed 14-16depending on conditions, revs approx 250.

The core of the Orion looks the same as the alien but cover much different.

Elite bowling balls are great.

Just so you know, I do not work for Elite or Bowlersparadise, nor have I thrown everything they have produced, but from what I have thrown, I am very impressed.  Started using Elite equipment about 6 months ago due to a fraternity brother of mine being a distributor for them, and then sharing information on the equipment with me.  He is a very good bowler and uses both Elite and Hammer equipment.

I also use Storm and Rotogrip balls, but I currently am using the Elite Orion (Heavy to Heavy-Med Oil), Elite Insanity (Heavy to Heavy-med oil), and Yellow Jacket Attack (Med - Light Oil).  I am very pleased with all three balls as they totally compliment my game on various oil patterns, playing multiple lines/angles.  I don't currently own a Rev Fugitive (although I have experienced it), but will be getting one shortly.  Currently, you can buy one for about $90 bucks.

The pricing stigma that was previously placed on Elite is no longer the case.  They came down to earth some time ago, and the pricing on all of their equipment is the same, if not better, than all the other ball companies out there.  I would tell you to buy the ball, drill it up, and see for yourself.  As I mentioned above, the next two balls that I will be getting are the Rev Fugitive, and probably the Bowlersparadise Draco (which is a bit more aggressive version of the Elite Orion).

I don't take too many companies serious when the information put out online is incorrect.  The first part of the description for the Draco is based on the Orion.

And any company that puts out FAKE reviews is even lower in my mind, irregardless how well the ball performs.

I don't judge a ball based upon reviews on any site.  I try to gather as much technical data about the ball as possible, then I try my best to see someone use it.

To me personally, brand name of a bowling ball means nothing.  I need to see performance based upon use.  I have learned a long time ago that marketing will never sway me with regards to spending my money on a product that works for me.  To be perfectly honest, the average bowler that is loyal to one brand most likely has only thrown a few balls, and have not tried other ball makers.

With regards to the comments about the Draco, since I already throw the Orion and know of its good performance, I would not be hesitant on trying the Draco as I know the core is the same.  Also this would give me the opportunity to have the ball drilled a little differently.

However I will agree that I would not put much stock in those customer reviews on bowlersparadise.com.  They do sound very fake to me, as everyone of them is positive.

I agree with taking online reviews with a grain of salt.  But when the company responsible for the manufacture of the bowling ball puts out obvious fake reviews to tout themselves, I just can't endorse that.

Once again, I don't doubt that their equipment may be decent equipment, but they will not get my endorsement or recommendation.
