IS this ball at the hammer booth at ABC Nationals yet? Sounds like a great ball!

Doug,

I have the regular Spike and love it! I am going to get the Spike HPT when I go to nationals in a couple of weeks.  From what I have read and from throwing the Spike the HPT should be very good if you have enough ball speed.

I had one of these drilled by Frankie at the hammer booth when I was at Nationals last week and all I can say is I thought the SPIKE was a great ball until I rolled the 4D Reactive.  IT is a great compliment to the Spike when the lanes are a little tougher or tighter.  It rolls thru the mid lane and makes a very sharp turn to the pocket!  Another great ball HAMMER!

I have been using this ball for 5 weeks including the Mixed National at the bowling Stadium. I had it drilled pin at 12:00(5" from PAP), cg 5" from PAP, and hot spot in strong position. The ball gets through the heads very clean with a nice backend reaction. Sometimes too much backend leaving 9 pins. I would recommend this ball just behind my Violet High Rev 3D Offset. I would recommend this ball for medium to heavy oil. I give it an 8.5 out of 10.

Hammerheads,

I've owned this ball for about a month and I wanted to get it right before I reviewed it.

My goal in buying this ball was to replace a now deceased sledgehammer that had been very very good to me!  The sledge was drilled max flare control.  Pin 3 3/8 from PAP, Mass Bias on the VAL, weighthole on the pap.  The sledgehammer covered a lot of boards smoothly and was a great medium condition tournament ball.  Thanks Mo Pinel for the mucho dinero$$$$!

I drilled the Reactive 4D the same except I wanted a little more hit, therefore I drilled a weighthole 6 3/4 from my pap initially.  This resulted in more top and 3/2 ratio of top weight to side weight.  This setup covered a lot more boards and had a very hard angular move to the pocket.  Great, but I have other balls for this already.

I plugged the balance hole, and reput on the PAP.  Ending side now 1/2, bottom weight 1/2 oz, and 0 finger.

This ball is now so smooooottttthhhhhh!

and predictable at the breakpoint with maybe a couple of more boards of backend due to the neoflex coverstock!

I find this ball very clean thru the fronts!!  Sir Revs a lot, remember there are three 4D's.  A heavy load particle called the 4D HPT( renowned for starting too early in the heads), a 4D tour a lighter load particle, and this clean shiny blue reactive! are you sure you have the reactive??.

Remember Hammerheads, these balls can be tweaked for high testorone bowling and carrydown by having a 3/2 top to side ratio( see drilling section in forum) or it can be toned down for control just by lowering your top!

PS This control drilling I think is

just as nice as a light load particle for midlane hook without all the cover maintenance!

I feel another win coming on!

Hammerheads,

Originally got this thing to replace my Crimson Red Sledgehammer.
Drilled it 3 3/8 mass bias on the VAL just like the Sledge.
To be a control ball.

It never really got it.  It always wanted to be powerful.  Like trying to make a bank robber a bank president.

I thought let it pursue it's nature.  Redrilled to 4 X 5, with mass bias on the thumb.

This ball reminds me of my Pantera, but longer.  One of the strongest backend reactions I've ever seen.  And explosive hit and carry.

This ball is not your father's oldsmobile.  Stomp and fling bowling is it's forte.  Stand right fling  left watch the incredible move back and carry.!
Or if you are less fortunate stand left, fling right, Left turn!

If you are a high rev, good projection over the foul line bowler you will love this thing.  However the slightest drop in speed or projection will bring you right on the nose.  Every throw must be clean and aggressive.

It reminds me of the Trauma but the Trauma is more forgiving.  And the Pantera but this thing is medium.

Before their gone if you like high Testosterone bowling get one.

This will make it to the A team in my arsenal only if I start throwing more aggresive every day.  Tentative shots not allowed with this monster.

Regards,

I love this one.  In fact I have 2.  The 1st one I bought was drilled 4 1/2" controlled, and the other is about 4" stacked (I wanted something similar to what my old sledge was).  Needless to say, I've never bowled better.  Before all the hammers, I was around a 180 average, now I am a 200+.  Both balls recover extremely well, and I can send them wide (2 to 4 board on the right side), and they will come back like gang-busters.  Both balls hit very heavily, and carry is not really an issue.  A very hearty 9 out of 10 (Ball maintainance is a pain though).

bought this ball a while back, couldn't stand it.  traded it for somthing else, but it seemed to make its way back to me, so i pluged it up and tryed somthing new.  pin below and to the right of the ring finger and cg is kicked way out, weight hole right next to cg(about 4 in.) wow, i couldn't believe it was the same ball.  it rolls so smooth, and hits decent.  carry is great, except for those damn 10 pins....anyone know a way to never leave one again?  you do let me know....

but i've changed my opinion about this ball now, i guess its one of those ones you have to drill up a certain way for it to work the best, i don't know

got this ball last spring from my dad after he got his new OI.  use this ball mostly as a spare all but on broken down lanes this ball is the best. this ball is said to be for medium-heavy oil but it can't handel very much oil. it's great ball for second and third shift shots. not sure how it's drilled but i can say that ball goes long before it makes its move which is great. i have shot 277 and my 1st 700 ,703 exactly, with this ball and it was on broken down lanes during highschool bowling practice. currently i have no intension of seling or replacing it. my opion it is the best Faball behind the high rev 3D offset. so if you ever get the chance to buy one dont pass it up.

Picked this gem up from my TX hookup, G. Man, I'm betting he's regretting THIS trade!!! Only 16lber in my arsenal right now, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Ball is drilled up pin next to ring, cg kicked right, HOT spot rt. of thumb. My favorite "3-D" drilling. Ball was left in box finish and is more than strong enough to handle our heavy house shot. Very similar reaction to my 3-D High  Rev, only stronger. Must have sufficient head oil to get this one into a strong forward roll. Once you get zeroed in, this ball can be used a whole set with little adjustments. Play mostly down and in, but have been able to belly the shot a bit as well with good results. Hit and carry are typical Faball! Nuff said. Coverstock appears to be very durable as the ball doesn't have a mark on it and maintenance is easy. A great addition to the arsenal! You the man, G!!!
