Faball USA is pleased to announce the introduction and June availability of the Nasty Nail eXtreme to the current line of Hammer balls. The Nasty Nail eXtreme features a totally new coverstock, Reactive Neoflex X-7375 with mica. This new coverstock has a hardness of 73-75 and is eligible for PBA as well as ABC/WIBC and YABA competition.

A single density inverted light bulb with a bottom flip block is perfectly centered in the ball allowing for energy conservation with an explosive backend motion and recovery from eXtreme angles.

Drilled mine with a 5 1/2 x 5 drill pattern, the same as one of my Firehawks.  Tried it out on a later shift league, which normally hook quite a bit, and normally from the start I am forced in around the 4th arrow.  However this ball gave me a line that allowed me to play much farther to the right around the 13th board and with just a little swing out to around 9.  This ball never wanted to grab the lane early even when i short-armed a shot, and also never over reacted when i missed to the scorched outside part of the lane. Very impressed with how cleanly it got down the lane and still hit as hard as any other would had I been swinging the 4th arrow as usual. I will have to try this ball on a heavier oil pattern to see if this ball has any usefulness on more oil, but for a drier condition, I don't think there is a better ball out there that both gets down the lane and still hits (and the price is an added bonus).

I used this ball for the first time on 9/13/01. Didn't touch the surface of the ball, used it straight out of the box. It has three ounces of top weight, the c.g. is one and one half inches from the pin. Using the drill sheet that came with the ball I had it drilled with the pin 3 3/8 inches from the pap. The pin is right of the ring finger and the pin is below and right of the ring finger. It has a balance hole to make it legal.
  Bowled a 604 the first night. Nothing spectacular, 205,207,192. The most strikes I put together were three, once in the first game and once in the third. One of the strikes in the first game was a Brooklyn. Missed my mark terribly. Never had a chance for the 1-3 pocket. As far as the reaction of this ball, I left one solid eight pin, one pocket 7-10, one washout, and a few ten pins. All of the ten pins deserved except one. Thought it was dead on. I stood at 23 and rolled it out to five. If I missed right this ball would come back strong to the pocket. I did have the one ugly washout, but that was my fault.
   I'm happy with the 604, but still uncertain what this ball can do. I do know that this ball is not an oil ball. I'll rate it an 8. After using it once, I can't give it high praise, nor can I be negative. I'll update this review in a couple months.
    I forgot to mention that the lanes I use the Nasty Nail Extreme on are dry. I don't have any idea what the exact conditions are, but the last three years I have averaged a 199, 194, and a 197 at this house using my old black Hammer I bought in 86. That's how dry these lanes are.

Wanted to give an update of this ball. I've used it at two different houses for the last two months. Both houses have dryer lane conditions than most places. The first observation after two months of rolling this ball is that this ball hits hard. I've had a few shots that I thought may leave an 8-10 split, but the ball just overpowers the pins. I also like the smooth arc this ball makes when it turns for the pocket. I stand at different boards at the two houses and I know that this ball isn't going to be overly aggresive and hook over to the Brooklyn side. This ball is also excellent for picking up a ten pin spare. It won't hook away and miss. I'm certainly glad I have this ball in my bag. In, fact, the ball is better than what I am able to do with it and I've averaged in the mid to high 190's the last six or seven years.

Med to late roll with med high flare.

no finger weight, and 3/4 oz thumb weight.
Lanes: Wood with Guardian. Oiled tall X-mas tree with the base extended to just before arrows. Backends are weak.Oiled to 38' buffed to 42'

I first had an interest in this ball when i decided it was time to retire the eraser. The ball is heavily tracked and the logos are all gone from changing the surface often. I had doubts on this ball, i started a list that included the Sp Pearl, and the Purple fuze, but never followed through with buying either one. We have had this ball sitting in the shop for about three months and it just sat there. So i bought it as a christmas gift for myself. My friend had a black 2001 and his ball only moved maybe ten boards at most( this is on med dry lanes). This ball and the black 2001 i think have the same coverstock, so i knew that the ball wasn't really aggressive. That is what i expected. With my first shot i was playing on lanes that were oiled about six hours before and had not been touched. So i figured the ball would go way long and miss the pocket right. I was TOTALLY wrong! I shot to the five board and it miss the pocket LEFT. I said oh my god what the? I moved to the 20 and shot over the 7 board and it lined up prefect for seven shots. I pulled the eighth and it went brooklyn. The carry is average for hammer, not great but carries the ten. I played a tight line and the ball regularly left ten pins. Moved and played a wider line and it was great. When the lanes dry out like i intended to use this ball i will be able to play coast to coast.

This ball was worth the risk, and it has paid off. It looks really cool. And it is totally controlable. I think this is my new Eraser. But i'm not going to put the Eraser in the garage, it deserves a spot in the house with the family.This ball deserves it's spot in my bag.

I had this ball drilled for a skid-snap reaction. My lanes are the typical house shot and since my ball speed is 14-15 mph I usually keep it on the shiny side. I averaged about 190 with it in league which was just off my 192 league average. This ball was a little sensitive to the backends when they didn't finish as well as usual but when the backends were good this ball hit like a truck. I would reccomend it for anyone looking for a medium lane condition  ball. It tended to be a little too agressive on drier conditions for my ball speed. You have to be able to take a little abuse from fellow bowlers over the color of it though!

What can I say this ball ROCKS!!! I just bowled my first 300 with this ball drilled leverage with a weight hole and it's polished. I have a high rev shot and always have a problem with the balls burning out before they leave the heads... This ball in it's current configuration is perfect for your medium to medium/dry lanes. It will slide thru the heads ramp up and turn left with athority... Nothing hit's like a hammer... my ball speed is 17-18 mph with ample amounts of hand..
