black hammer surface

i found a statement that the original black hammer surface was sanded urethane, can someone tell me what grit was used?

I think it was 1000 out of the box, but I'm not 100% sure.  I always used (and still use) mine polished..

Having been around during their heyday, I can tell you that the black, red, and blue all came with a 320 grit sanded finish.

 Now the purple and maroon I'm not so sure of. They were both dull out of the box and may have been 320 grit as well.

320 is correct. I still have a box for the Burgandy and that is what it says on it.

320 sounds about right maybe 500 grit. I like mine around 4000.
