Blue Hammer W/ Orange Engraving

Hello,

I have an old Blue Hammer which I got in 96-97 that has orange engraving instead of the common white. Was this standard this during this time? Does this indicate that it is not a urethane and has some resin in the coverstock? Or is it that it was just made at a different plant, I have searched and couldn't find anything.

Someone can pipe up but I believe around that time frame they started using orange label for all their urethane balls regardless of factory.  I know my red razor urethane has orange.  The serial number usually tells you the year made and which factory (forget off hand but think its U for Utah, B for Baltimore and forget the one for St. Louis, edit: S and maybe F I think).  Orange just tells you it was one of the later produced Faballs.

I grew up in that area and that was one of the last pours of the urethane Blue hammers. They went with Orange logos and an Orange pin that year as all other pours had the pin the same color as the resin.

Pretty rare find.

The Norm Duke Hammer was blue with orange engraving and orange pin.

There was also a late 90s version with Pink logos and a pink pin that I remember throwing in high school.

As mentioned before, it was an early “re-release” of the original urethane hammer, issued after they began to realize the importance of pin placement in drilling techniques.

 They also re-issued the maroon hammer with yellow labels and pins about the same time.

 These were the last true urethane hammers that I am aware of.
