Help with Faball Serial Numbers

Found a single drill 16# Black Hammer on the rack at work and I was wondering what anyone could tell me about it from it's SN.
IB072891
I'm not sure if the first three characters are letters, or if only the first two are. I am pretty sure the last two numbers are for 1991, but I'm not sure. Can anyone fill me in on the specifics of Faball SN's?

Thanks KOTM, but what system did they use in case I want to be able to figure it out for myself in the future?

If I remember right, the first digit indicates the year it was made, and the second(a letter) indicates which plant it was made in(B-Baltimore, U-Utah, not sure what they used for St. Louis).

Thanks for resurrecting my question Karl... Too bad the ball in question sprouted legs and walked out of the house ages ago. What's scary is the engraving it had on it... it was Karl, in script lettering...
