Price check: NIB 14lb Pink Hammer
« on: October 07, 2012, 12:22:13 AM »
Well, I was lucky enough to pick this up and am likely to put it up on eBay.  I have one in 15 that never leaves my bag.

I've only seen two of these NIB in the 5 years I've been bowling and never in a 14, so I'm guessing this is pretty rare.  I'm thinking it could reasonably fetch $200-250.  Sound right?

Thanks

I'd guess $100+shipping is a good start. 14lbs is a lot more popular then ever before but it doesn't have the same market as 15lbs. It takes a couple of people really interested to drive a price to get $200 plus these days. Most people even on rare 15lb bowling balls wont pay more for a retro ball then todays high performance bowling balls.

I like these old Hammer urethane balls and I use 14 lbs..  I keep my eyes out for used ones. They tend to be cheap.  Picked up a sd Razor not long ago.  With plugging, redrilling, IT thumb slug and shipping it was $65.00.

These days it's hard to say.  You might get $100 for it on ebay...minus all their fees....and their fees on shipping costs now.   >:(

Yes just saw the BS on fees for shipping the other day after selling a few items.

F%*K ebay and that BS. Why have a shipping calculator for exact shipping cost if your going to screw the seller out of the money? I now have to over charge shipping to get the actual shipping covered.

9% for the item
9% for the shipping
then the paypal fees off all of that.(paypal is owned by ebay)

What a F%$KING scam!!!

(sorry for the rant but it is true)

Well, I agree with the scam on fees.  I didn't know about the shipping costs fee, too!

The last ball I sold on eBay I bought for $25 and sold for $175 BIN + shipping within 15 minutes of listing it (a NIB Columbia 300 SUR D Pro).  Boy was that a lesson for me!  I had an email offer from eBay to list for free and waive most fees, so the only thing that really bugged me was that I clearly undervalued the ball lol.  But I was still happy with what I got.

I might sit on this Pink Hammer for awhile, we'll see.  I agree with Greazygeo that already drilled these don't fetch much but every time I see a NIB one they do pretty well.

The fact that the ball is rare does not make it any better than any of the current urethane balls on the market.  I currently use a urethane ball for spares because I got tired of the polyester balls being so brittle, and urethane balls seem to be indestructible.
Sure, there may be some sentimental value for the occasional bowler, but people should not lose their mind bidding on a urethane ball.

Hi Kenny,

I think that ball would overlap with my Norm Duke Signature Hammer, but thanks for the offer.

Glad you liked those balls.  If I ever decide to sell the Norm Duke I know where to go.  That ball is amazing.

Tried the Syntactive way back....just didn't like it anywhere near my second favorite retro Hammer, the Sledge.  Never tried the Jack Hammer and always wanted to get my paws on that.
